What is Happiness?

Dictionary: The state of being happy

The dictionary definition does seem a bit simplistic. Happiness is learning to love. Love and happiness go hand in hand. It doesn't have to be a romantic kind of love but a kind of love that means a strong, respecting, and caring nature. Happiness is dependent on the love you chose to give off. Happiness is the love you give off. But first one must learn how and what to love. Learning to love has three subjects prior to being happy. Once you are able to love the three points only then can one achieve happiness.

The People in it: There has been a Harvard study that people tend to be more happier when in a relationship. They repeat the words of a professional saying that it is the quality of the relationship that matters. Harvard also says that a happy relationship should be a healthy one so people should make sure their relationships should be built on the willingness to be there for the person or people.
https://www.cnbc.com/2017/10/31/this-harvard-study-reveals-how-you-can-be-happier-and-more-successful.html
The World Itself: There has been an experiment in Japan where participants were dived in two groups. The first group went on a walk through an urban center and the second went through a forest. The people who walked through the forest reported to have less anxiety and be more happier. It has been proven by the same researchers that the world and nature can mentally make you happier.
https://greatergood.berkeley.edu/article/item/how_nature_makes_you_kinder_happier_more_creative
What you can do for the world: A Harvard professional states "Giving to a cause that specifies what they’re going to do with your money leads to more happiness than giving to an umbrella cause where you’re not so sure where your money is going.” Adam Grant, an author of Give & Take, states “Selfless giving, in the absence of self-preservation instincts, easily becomes overwhelming,” Happiness can come from giving to the world more than you take from it. You become happier when you give back willingly with as much love as possible. You become a more open person and become more happy. As the professionals listed have stated happiness is loving to give back.
http://time.com/collection/guide-to-happiness/4070299/secret-to-happiness/

There is a famous saying called first love yourself. Researchers have said that self love can become a guiding pathway to reaching goals and dreams which in return makes you happier. Self esteem is vital to finding your way to happiness and many people chose to agree that it should always come first. "Have faith in your abilities! Without a humble but reasonable confidence in your own powers you cannot be successful or happy." States an American minister Norman Vincent Peale. The researchers at the National Institute on Aging say that people with healthy self esteem are doing well and are happy. Studies in the University of Michigan say that being satisfied or happy with your life matters not on money and relationship satisfaction but more on satisfaction towards yourself. Even believing that you are better than you hold yourself accountable for can protect yourself from anxiety and depression.
https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/articles/199207/the-secrets-happiness
https://howtobehappy.guru/loving-ourselves-and-having-a-high-self-esteem-can-help-us-to-be-happier/
https://www.huffingtonpost.com/kristen-houghton/learn-to-love-yourself_b_996885.html

In the University of London, clinical psychologist Dr. Libby Watson says that there are many good things that could come from being alone. "Alone time can be restorative and replenishing, providing psychological benefits in terms of stress reduction, understanding the self, and in identifying triggers of stress and other harmful states." says Watson. Dr. Watson believes that it is good to relax and look back on yourself when being alone. It is strongly beneficial and is a big part on improving mental health. She states that it helps control emotions. She says that people have became use to being stressed out in demanding environments. Alone time for a quick checkup is proven to relax, improve control, strengthen happiness, and protects the body from depression. Doing this frequently is actually good for you.
https://www.readersdigest.co.uk/health/wellbeing/the-key-to-happiness-spending-time-alone
