He wrote a book to explain that photography was just as amazing as painting/drawing. In the beginning of his life on his own (1913) , he went to college to major in Law. By the time 1916 came around he was drafted into the army to be a artillery officer. During this time in the army he painted pictures of the atmosphere around him and the other men he was around. When the war finished, he finished his law degree but then started to create more and more art. He painted landscapes with abstract elements in a Cubist style. Laszlo Moholy-Nagy was a painter for most of his career. His first wife was a photographer. When he married his first wife, Lucia, they began to  experimented photograms and it allowed him to explore light and shade, transparency, and form.
