Consistent modes of communication

For all of our work together - except the Brighten Refresh - our main form of communication has been Slack, so it was a confusing pivot to switch to email. I feel like as a result we have a lot of different conversations in a lot of different places and unsure of who is hearing what.

Scheduling across teams and time zones is challenging, but it is always a fruitful conversation when we can all be in the same "room" to strategize, share what's working, and connect.

Project management

Sometimes it can be hard to know exactly what needs to be done, who's responsible, and what the timeline is — especially with so many different projects/campaigns taking place at any given time.

Not regularly checking in when working on major campaigns is difficult. Sometimes a decision will be made on a call or email thread that not everyone is on, which results in confusion and conflicting instructions for those working on the project.

I feel like it'd be helpful to have a more centralized space to share time off as opposed to in various notes docs across different project spaces. Or creating a standard of practice of cancelling calls at least a week in advance if OOO, etc.

Regular status updates, including delays in delivery, speed bumps that have come up, or even acknowledgement that information has been received would be very helpful. A lot of our work is collaborative and dependent on one another, and it feels like there is an inconsistency in communication practices, especially our frequency. Misalignment in how we communicate with each other doesn't build trust or foster strong relationships. How can we up our game around communication and trust in one another?

How can we set up venues to work together and think critically all together and in a data-informed way about key aspects like the quantity quotas for OGP? This kind of inquiry may yield ideas and changes that free up time for even greater and sharper experimentation and innovation together. (This includes assessing the marginal benefits of the # of social posts going out, the # going up on website, the # of articles/mo for the site etc.)

Would another in-person retreat be beneficial for our working relationship and the project in 2024? If so, can we discuss travel & time budgets, and funding availability or fundraising needs, well in advance?

As we move into a year where the goal and hope is deepen and grow audience interest beyond post engagement - and experiment with those activation offerings - do we need to designate a particular call/gathering every so often to tee up brainstorming just focused on this very challenging aspect of online organizing on our issues?
