He is American musician, singer, songwriter, record producer, and composer. He is one of the fronteers of the Industrial Rock movement and his work in musicial production is considered ground breaking.

Reznor uses sound as a way of manipulating our emotions and can make the softest of instruments like the piano, extremely unsettling. Reznor uses samples of sounds such as hammers against walls, piano samples, dialogue from movies and synthesises them into a piece that is disturbing, unsettling and surprisingly an enjoyable listen. 

I wanted my sculpture to reflect the noise that Trent Reznor's music produces. His modern synthesising techniques uses technology to create disturbing media. Creates noise that is industrial and emotional. I will focus on the research I have done on Supernatural cons since all my prior research is on Supernatural. 

Supernatural Con is a con purely dedicated to the show supernatural and fans meeting the cast and crew. Sometimes they even hold panels for the cast's body guards. These cons are a breeding ground for fan and cast interaction. Fans get to meet and interact with their parasocial relationships and the cast get to make money while doing it. 

These spaces are also direct communication links between fandom and the show's cast. Here fans can ask questions to cast and it creates lots of content and discourse for the fandom's online presence. As a member of the Supernatural fandom myself, conventions are like mini christmases and I look forward to seeing videos of the panels as well as stories on how fans interacted with the cast.

Though there are many positive aspects to cons, I can't help but feel like they are exploitetive by nature and the ridiculous prices the fans have to pay to enter the con ass well as pay to simply get a photo with an actor.

I wanted to understand how this digital age of no privacy and expert marketing came to be and to understand that, I must understand the history and how it came to be. I read this book by Shoshana Zuboff and it gave me extreme insight into the every day workings of this new form of capitalism as well as how it came to be this way.

Zuboff starts the book off this question of what home is. How our homes exist in this modern age as well as how they have existed. This leads her to informing us about smart homes and how they exist and if they are the future and the privacy that we will have to give up to function of this new method of living. Smart Home doesn't work if we do not agree to the terms of service and without agreeing, smart home will not update and certain functions are just not available. We must trade our own information to garner access to this service.

Zuboff introduces us to the important question of, what is surveillance capitalism and how does it function? Providing us clear detail on how capitalism began to function and compares the revolution of iTunes to Ford's revolution of developing lower cost cars.

This book provided me so much insight into how Surveillance Capitalism functions and this really helped me work on my sculpture. It gave me an understanding into how marketing works virtually and the algorithm that aids it. Burnham highlights the generic song lyrics that are used to reel in audiences. These songs make people feel special because they are carefully constructed by the corporate elite, marketed to young girls because statistically they buy the most records out of all age demographics.

He highlights not only invasive weirdness of singing to teenage girls about loving them but also using their vulnerabilities against them. This song puts into question our understanding of media. It makes us question the friendly faces of pop stars we see everyday and their intentions as well as the media's intentions. Burnham highlights how magazines strive to destroy young girls self esteem and how these pop stars are carefully places to lift them up. A continuous vicious cycle made to make as much money as they can.

I felt like the sculpture lacked with these two pieces together so I had to figure out a way to help aid the sculpture in making more noise and hypnotise the audience

It also explores the left and it's performative politics performed by actors through twitter. Using performative politics to appeal to young people on the left to strengthen their parasocial relationships with them as well as climb socially.

Throughout this book it became very clear that the divide between the alt right and the far left online didn't mean there was not similarities between the alt right and the far left. It became abundently clear that many of the reasons why these subcultures were formed was because of escapism. 4Chan and Reddit are sights mostly run on their love for videogames and fiction and Tumblr and Twitter are a places where people discuss mostly fandom. Stormfront gains popularity online quickly and it becomes very obvious she is a force to be reckoned with. Homelander, the leader of the Seven grows jealous of her. Homelander is obsessed with everyone liking him and after some public incidents he is losing support from his fans, while Stormfront is gaining a large loyal following very quickly.

This leads to Homelander confronting Stormfront, here Stormfront explains the importance of social media influence. She says "Millions of people like you, but I have a fucking army." She highlights the importance of creating strong parasocial relationships with your audience and even with a decrease in numbers, their loyalty is stronger than millions of people who just like you.

Stormfront tells Homelander about how she has people making here memes and popping them onto social media, using humour as a vechile for her to radicalise people with her political rhetoric.

In the book "Killing All Normies" it covers the alt right and its social media figures like Alex Jones and Milo Yiannopoulos, white supremacists figures in the alt right. These men created a new type of political figure, a figure who was popularised by social media. These men presented a new more casual format that was built on edgy jokes and "owning" feminists. This appealed to many young people and built an army of young people radicalised into becoming white supremacists.

Stormfront is a direct metaphor for these figures and this is cleverly highlighted in the show. FMV stands for Fan Made Music Video, this is what it says on the package. It is taking the footage from your favourite fictional visual media and manipulating the footage you have to make a music video.

These videos popularly made for ships, a ship is the pairing of two fictional characters that fans want to be romantically involved. Fans chose their favourite songs or maybe a song that reminds them of the pairing and edits footage along to them. Embarrassingly enough, I have taken part in making many of these and that is actually how I learned how to used editing software in the first place.

For my film, I drew inspiration from this. Stark's exploration of these relationships really reminded me of my own exploration of Parasocial Relationships. Parasocial relationships are one sided, they are "giver" and "taker" relationships. From the invasion of technology in our lives to the invasion of media into our own lives. In the first chapter of 'The Age of Surveillance Capitalism' the home is touched upon by Zuboff. She teaches us about the Smart Home but also this subtly articulates how intimately technology has become entangled in our lives and what capitalism will to to get it into your lives. During Bo Burnham's music video 'Repeat Stuff' we see him play the role of a beloved teen idol. He serves as a symbol for personas like Harry Styles, Justin Bieber etc. In the video we see him brutally break into a pre-teens home and devour her heart. Giving us insight into corporations use media figures to sell products that are garnered by eating at your deepest vulnerabilities and insecurity.

With the growing intimacy of technology through data profiling as well as the physical development of haptics that directly involves the use of touch screen and eliminates the barrier of buttons we are growing so entangled in technology that is is basically becoming our homes. 'The History of the Future' by Blake J. Harris provides us of the continuing development of VR and the ambitions of corporations like Facebook  to let VR become our new homes and our new identities.

He talks about how you have to create something that is entertaining to your audience organically and not a strategy that is just looking to continuously taking things from fans. This book as extremely relevant to my work because as the book title states it gave me an insight into how the future of technology is going. With Fandom and parasocial relationships tying deeply into my work it was interesting to see how a love for "other worlds" sparked this virtual revolution.

In this book you learn about Facebook's ambitions to build The Meta and the ambitions for surveillance capitalism to take a whole new form in the virtual. You learn about this new world being carefully constructed and what it means for the future.

As technology becomes more physically intimate it becomes easier for us to become more intimate with technology. This is very apparent in the ever growing development of the smartphone, a touchscreen device that provides us with nearly everything we need. It has become nearly impossible to function in western society without a smartphone and we provide these devices with personal vulnerable data.

The way the materials interact with each other is incrediably interesting. Salcedo uses the material of everyday life. These materials are extremely human. This time I experimented more with the poses with the leather jacket. I wore all grey to make the work stand out more.

Looking at these photos I enjoy how my body look like it is being consumed. The continuing theme within all my works is the growing intimacy of technology. Here using a leather jacket I am articulating how the virtual world is consuming us. 

These pieces speak to the intimacy we are letting technology have in our lives, the comfort and warmth of it, through a leather jacket but the way this jacket is placed on me makes me immobile. It makes it difficult for me to move and live in the physical world and the more the jacket consumes me, the harder it gets to exist physically.

Here we have planks of stripped wood on top of steel strong workbench. The awnings were originally used to secure residences on the condemned housing estate in Walworth, South East London from which the work takes its title. The Heygate Estate was demolished between 2011 and 2014 as part of the planned urban regeneration of the area around the Elephant and Castle road interchange. 

The odour of the stale wood lends to the feeling of nostalgia on his work. Nelson likes to explore different British infastructures with his work. Taking a look at different socio economic places and taking their materials. 

Nelson views these items as treasures in a way, symbolising the industrial age. Although they may be old worn down damp smelling objects, they are icons of an age and are precious.

Through the destruction of these olds estates we are destroying history in a way. Nelson looks at this like cannibalism. First Benton collected the correct dimensions since the artwork was being installed into a specific space. To produce his works Benton would often daw patterns to construct the correct balance for the painting. When satisfied he outlined the pattern with an image. Here is when we see Benton refer back to Renaissance techniques and manufacture a clay model of his drawing, then projecting light on it to see the dimensions and the affect it will have on the background. Benton would then transfer this onto a small painting. Models were then brought in to be drawn, as well as built in clay before he began his final piece. This gave  Benton a broad understanding of anatomy and perspective when transferring onto canvas. 
 
Benton used architectural technique when transferring onto his canvas. He would generate a grid on his final sketch and construct the grid on canvas and transfer his work by the grid. Benton used Tempera paint on this artwork, tempera is pigment mixed with egg yoke, tempera lacks opaqueness, it fitted perfectly with Benton’s cartoonlike figure style. Benton often referring back to his clay models and detailed sketches finished his work and would often at the end go over the figures to ad final details and create his iconic strong contrast in light and dark.
