On the first class we were discussing about what culture means and how it impacts our life. I like this article because, to me, it describes perfectly how culture and music are connected. Music is an universal language that we can all speak or understand. This is an amazing tool that we can use to expand our minds if we want to know more about people's lifestyle all around the world. Not only can we learn about the present and recent events but also about the past, and I find that very interesting!

I thought about this video a lot during the second class. What caught my attention the most is the thing she said about people accidentally bumping into you in Korea and how they don't stop or look at you to say sorry or something of that sort, because here in Argentina is so different! And it's funny how we can be so different in comparison to other cultures with something so small or insignificant.
I think it is related with the analogy of the cultural iceberg we talked about last class; this specific example has to do with our invisible part of the iceberg since it is a shared value/moral that perhaps not everyone knows about.

PD: I don't know if it is correct to post things in Spanish but I found this so interesting I couldn't help but share it!

When we talked about racism I thought about this scene of a Korean series called "Itaewon Class". A group of friends decided to go to a nightclub and they were all allowed to enter except for one, the "black" character, which was refused the entrance because people from Africa were not permitted. This rule isn't just something that was planned for the show, it actually happens in real life with people of color in Korea.
This series is obviously open to the diversity of the world; I've never seen a black character before in one of them. The character's name is Kim Toni. When he first met the other characters, they approached him speaking in English, since they assumed that that was the language he spoke (obviously based on his skin color). Turns out that he is actually half Korean, half Guinean and didn't understand a single English word; but when he told them that, they didn't believe him.

https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMF5cNTts/

I randomly found this video in tiktok. I thought of it as a funny and curious way of learning what language and cultural identity is. I think every culture is defined by how we express ourselves not only through language but through our bodies as well. The "signs" that this girl describes are just some of our amazing body language, and I was impacted when I read that these were not universal! Most of them are known within the Latino community.

What I like the most about this first wave of feminism are the postcards and posters. To my way of thinking, they are an effective and clear way of expressing one's posture without having to make use of violent approaches. As we saw throught the class, there were differents types of it and an amazing creativity was put in to work. While searching for some of them, I found this short but illustrating poem of what was happening in those years.

2nd wave of feminism: we went through a chapter of Betty Friedan book called "The Feminine Mystique" and this is an extract which we weren't able to read. I just loved the phrase by Lucy Stone "it shall be the business of my life to deepen this disappointment in every woman's heart until she bows down to it no longer" she's referring to the disappointment of feeling as if there were no more to it for a woman's life other than serving her husband and taking care of their children and house. She wants women to speak their hidden truth and to make use of that voice that has been quiet for so many years but full of things to say.
