Personal Response: I personally loved the comic El Deafo. I thought it was a beautiful story that addresses disabilities. It is super important to incorporate books like this into the classroom so students can understand more about disabilities. Representing different disabilities in the classroom can lead to an inviting open-minded classroom where all students feel represented and heard. The main character took her disability instead of something that made her different and changed it into a superpower. This empowers all students with disabilities that they are different.

Personal Response: I personally think this book is beautifully written and the illustrations are amazing. This book can be a little harsh for a normal children's story book but I think the lesson is super important. You never know what somebody’s family is going through and being able to relay it is super important. By using dark colors for the father and light colors for the daughter it portrays the emotions as well.
