·         Keep it fewer than 7 slides per student, excluding the reference slide

·         Use phrases only. NOT full sentences

·         NOTE: avoid written points when a picture/graph/chart/diagram  may convey meaning better

·         Images, photos, graphs, charts, diagrams must be referenced (in text citation style) with full reference list entry on last slide (N.B. This is additional, not part of the 6 allowed per person)

·         NO Introduction, conclusion or thank you for listening slides, this information is spoken 

·         Use font 24+ / Arial or Times Roman (Don’t use all capitals)

·         Can use colour, however must be easy to read and no complicated or irrelevant backgrounds. Keep the slide style consistent throughout

·         Check spelling and grammar

·         Slides with logical sequence

·         No special effects needed

·         A video can be used if it is relevant (No longer than 30 seconds). It must illustrate something that you will then talk about (Use as a connection with the audience in the introduction or within main body)

·         Key information on cue cards

·         Use verbal signals and signposts (to begin with, moving on to, in addition…..)

·         Use hedging language

·         Have relevant and accurate information

·         Have clarity and structure of contents (Introduction, Body & Conclusion)

·         Explain words the audience might not know (in other words, that is to say…)

·         Demonstrate an appropriate level of English

·         Use appropriate body language and gesture (Don’t stand in one spot all the time)

·         Have eye contact

·         Have clear pronunciation

·         Use voice stress, intonation, rhythm, volume and speed

·         Keep on topic

·         Have good timing

·         Respond to questions appropriately from the audience
