On our first meeting, I was a bit nervous because I didn't know any of them, compared to my friend. They have someone that they know in their usrah group, but luckily, we introduced ourselves to each other and got to know each other's favourite foods. I am grateful to Allah for giving me this opportunity to know more good people.

There were no signs of travel on him and we did not recognize him. He sat in front of the Prophet, rested his knees by his knees, and placed his hands on his thighs. The man said, “O Muhammad, tell me about Islam.” The Prophet said, “Islam is to testify there is no God but Allah and Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, to establish prayer, to give charity, to fast the month of Ramadan, and to perform pilgrimage to the House if a way is possible.” The man said, “You have spoken truthfully.” We were surprised that he asked him and said he was truthful. He said, “Tell me about faith.” The Prophet said, “Faith is to believe in Allah, His angels, His Books, His Messengers, the Last Day, and to believe in providence, its good and its harm.” The man said, “You have spoken truthfully. Tell me about excellence.” The Prophet said, “Excellence is to worship Allah as if you see Him, for if you do not see Him, He surely sees you.” The man said, “Tell me about the final hour.” The Prophet said, “The one asked does not know more than the one asking.”

islam=pillars of islam

iman= pillars of iman

ihsan= we seek for perfection in worship by having full awareness of Allah

This poster portrays about “Understanding the Wisdom (Hikmah) Behind Ibadah (Worship)". Each act of worship Salah, Sawm, Zakah, and Hajj, serves not only as a ritual obligation but also as a means of spiritual and moral development.

Salah, or prayer, helps keep a believer on the right path by building discipline, serving as a constant reminder of Allah, and preventing immoral behavior. The Qur’an emphasizes its importance in Surah Al-Ankabut (29:45), which states, “Indeed, prayer keeps one from immorality and wrongdoing.”

Sawm, or fasting, develops self-control and teaches patience and empathy. It also purifies both the heart and body while strengthening taqwa (God-consciousness). This is supported by Surah Al-Baqarah (2:183), where Allah says, “Fasting is prescribed… so you may become righteous.”

Zakah, the act of giving charity, purifies one’s wealth and cleanses the heart of greed and selfishness. It strengthens community bonds and aids those in need. Surah At-Tawbah (9:103) reinforces this by stating, “Take from their wealth a charity to purify them and increase them…”

Hajj, the pilgrimage, promotes unity and taqwa among Muslims by gathering people from around the world in a shared spiritual journey. It trains believers in sacrifice and serves as a spiritual reset. As mentioned in Surah Al-Baqarah (2:197), “And take provisions, but the best provision is taqwa…”

Together, these acts of worship are designed not only to fulfill religious obligations but also to nurture a balanced, disciplined, and spiritually conscious life.

3 main step

niyyah

amal

ihsan

why is it matters?

when niyyah amal and ihsan merge, we build self spiritual.

let's go deeper:

1. Niyyah (Intention): The Seed of Worship

Why it’s important:

Every act of ibadah starts with intention. The Prophet ﷺ said:

“Actions are but by intentions…” (Bukhari, Muslim)

Connection to Hikmah:

A sincere niyyah aligns the worship with the purpose of pleasing Allah. Without it, worship becomes ritualistic and empty—no matter how outwardly impressive, it won’t cultivate inner wisdom. Niyyah gives meaning to the action, which is essential for hikmah to take root.

2. ‘Amal: The Manifestation of Worship

Why it’s important:

‘Amal is the actual performance of worship such as salah, fasting, dhikr, etc. Islam does not value intention alone but action is proof of that intention.

Connection to Hikmah:

Consistent, disciplined action in worship is what transforms the soul. Hikmah is not granted just by knowledge. It’s a fruit of embodied practice. ‘Amal refines the character and opens the heart to divine understanding.

3. Ihsan: The Spirit of Worship

Why it’s important:

Ihsan is described by the Prophet ﷺ as:

“To worship Allah as if you see Him, and if you cannot see Him, know that He sees you.” (Hadith Jibril)

Connection to Hikmah:

Ihsan brings depth and presence to worship. It transforms mechanical acts into heartfelt devotion. When worship is done with ihsan, the heart becomes illuminated and capable of receiving hikmah true insight and divine perspective.

In Summary:

Niyyah provides the purpose,

‘Amal provides the path,

Ihsan provides the depth,

and together, they unlock hikmah the divine wisdom that transforms the soul.
