He has secured numerous aid packages for the district and played a driving role in a strategic funding initiative that generated more than $3.7 million for improved educational resources and opportunities. He also launched a district-wide grade realignment of elementary schools, among other achievements. In addition to his role as superintendent, Erick Alfonso is a graduate professor at Ramapo College of New Jersey. His work focuses on developing curriculum and research courses that prepare educators for successful careers as administrators.

Erick Alfonso obtained a doctorate in educational leadership, management, and policy at Seton Hall University. He also has a master of arts in educational leadership and M.B.A. from Ramapo College of New Jersey, and serves on the Ramapo College of Graduate Education Advisory Board. A few of his other professional affiliations include the Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents and the American Association of School Administrators.
