<title>At the beginning of the year I knew what a DBQ was and had no idea how to implement it however I was excited to try. My first DBQ (Unit 1) was rough. My students were learning to write and I wasn&#39;t sure how to guide them. I now view my DBQ experience as a time to review the learning and connect deeper with my class and hear their opinions. Its exciting and I enjoy teaching it because I feel that my students are able to connect to Social Studies content. I currently start the DBQ with a conversation and then type up that conversation into sentence frames and use my writing conference times to work on it. I would love to understand how other teachers approach it and how they guide students to be successful </title>

<title>I am introducing the documents before the end of the unit. There are more discussions about the documents during the unit which allows the students to have more background knowledge and a better understanding of the topic/unit making it easier for them to write when it&#39;s DBQ time.</title>
