         <description><![CDATA[<div>The first step is for teachers, parents, or administrative officials to recognize the signs of a struggling student.&nbsp;<br><br>The following is a list of possible indicators of a struggling student:<br><br></div><ul><li>Becomes easily frustrated</li><li>Lacks self-motivation</li><li>Has difficulty staying on task</li><li>Takes longer than normal to complete written work</li><li>Begins to argue with you over school work</li><li>Becomes anxious and stressed about homework</li><li>Starts to leave books and assignments at school</li><li>Has difficulty following directions</li><li>Seems to work longer and harder with little or no improvement</li><li>Is no longer organized and forgets projects and tests dates</li><li>Turns in incomplete homework or none at all</li><li>Makes frequent and careless errors</li><li>Seems to have trouble with note-taking skills</li><li>Struggles with basic reading, writing, math, or spelling skills</li><li>Has difficulty remembering and does not retain learned skills</li><li>Makes negative comments about the teacher or about school in general</li><li>Receives notes home from teachers about classroom misconduct</li></ul><div><br>https://www.advancedlearners.com/tutoring/struggling.aspx</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><br></div><ul><li><strong>Assess readiness: </strong>Some kids, especially younger ones, might not be ready to speak up, and that’s okay! You can model good advocacy skills by talking with your child (and letting her see you talk to others) about learning differences frankly and comfortably.</li><li><strong>Ask and listen: </strong>If your child is uncomfortable talking to others about their learning issues, have a talk about what’s bothering them. They may be feeling <a href="https://childmind.org/article/help-kids-deal-embarrassment/">embarrassed</a> or ashamed of being “different.” Take this as an opportunity to reassure them and talk through their fears or doubts. They’ll feel better and you’ll have the information you need to support them emotionally, as well as academically.</li></ul><div><br><br></div><div><br></div>]]></description>
