1. I chose this picture because during the book Dave and Julia are in love with each other but don't know it, meanwhile, Dave is dating someone else so it's kinda a whole entanglement
2. I'm reading a book called Never Always Sometimes by Adi Alsaid and I've been reading it for a couple of weeks now today I read 10 pages.
3. My book is about 2 best friends who have known each other from middle school all the way up to their senior year and made a list of rules they can never break throughout high school. In their senior year, they decide they wanna break all the rules from the list they made in 8th grade, and one of the rules is to never fall in love or pine silently behind somebody, but Dave and Julia are in love which each other and they don't know it.
4. I think the book is really interesting and entertaining, the dialogue is funny and comes with a lot of sarcasm.
5. An independent reading goal that I have is to finish this book by the end of February.

6. I would rate my independent reading this week a 7/10 because I didn't read every day but on Monday and Thursday, I knocked out a whole bunch of chapters from my book.

1. I chose the picture above because it represents the timing of the book. I'm reading Revolution by Deborah Wiles. I didn't read today because I was working on my assessment.

2.I'm partly done with the book because I'm almost halfway done with it.

3. In my book, it's about a sister and a brother who caught someone trespassing and they left, when trying to find him they witnessed racist things, speeches and segregation. I think that the book might be about something the author has witnessed, both the characters have been through so much.

4.I wonder if the person that trespassed was running away when the police had arrived because of their skin color, they might have thought that they would've gotten a bigger punishment than Polly and Gillete (the main characters).

5. I hope to finish this book by the end of this month or the middle of March.

6. I would rate my independent reading a 2/10. I give it a 2/10 because although I read, I didn’t read a lot this week. I barely read less than 10 pages, so I would say my progress has decreased within this week.

The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo -Athanasia Caplanis

I just started The Poet X for independent reading on Wednesday, it is now Friday.
1. I put a photo of somebody staying quiet because in order for her to not get into trouble with her parents she can't tell anybody except Caridad about the boy she is seeing. There are so many things that can occur in one school year so I am eager to see if anything exciting happens to Xiomara. I have continued reading this book and this is an update on Xiomara. She met this boy and is really hitting it off with him. The only problem is that she will never be able to do much with him because of her strict parents. She already is breaking her parent's rules and doing some things with him that I can't say for spoiler reasons.
2. Since Wednesday I have read 129 pages. Over halfway done. So far I am really enjoying it.
3. It's about a religious Dominican girl named Xiomara who has a twin brother Xavier. It is written with slam poetry instead of the typical writing you see. Xiomara is currently struggling with a couple of things. Firstly, her parents don't really like each other although they are married. Also, she doesn't think that she is compatible with her best friend, Caridad. Not only that but she wants to start dating boys but all they want from her are her looks. She wants to know what it feels like to love somebody. At the part, I am at she is about to start her first day at school.
4. I have empathy for Xiomara since she has to follow some very unreasonable rules because of her culture and religion.
5. My reading goal is to finish this book by next week since I only have around 200 pages left.
6. This week I rate my independent reading book an 8/10. I give my book an eight because this week while I was reading the exact thing I didn't want to happen happened. Xiomara is now in really big trouble with her mom.

I choose this photo because it represents what I think being and feeling mindful looks like
2: I haven't read it for the past 2 days because someone checked it out but I have been reading this book for a few weeks and so far it's a really nice and calm book.
3: It doesn't really have a storyline or plot but it shows and teaches me ways how I can be mindful of my surroundings and in life.
4: I think that this is a great book to start reading because it helps you in many many ways with your mind and how you think. It is a very well-written and interesting book.
5: I hope I finish this book by the end of February or somewhere in March.
6: I rate my independent reading this week a 7.5 out of 10 because sometimes I would get distracted a little bit but overall I was pretty productive in my reading.

1.The book Other Words For Home by Jasmine Wagra. The pages I read today were 10, even though im a slow reader the book is written in a different way books have their pages and I really like the way she writes.
2. I'm not there yet but I kinda getting there to the end of my book. I got my book from the class and I'm gonna start a new book after i finished the book I'm currently reading right now.
3. My book is basically about this girl who lives in Syria and transitions to immigrate to America where her uncle lived and they were gonna stay with him because war is happening between the people who wish for a better life and the government of Syria and her brother joined in the wars with the people to fight but her father had stayed back to run the family business. The author takes a journey with us to read the main character's adventure and America as she experiences different things then she would at home.
4. I really am enjoying this book and her story, i also like how the author writes the book too. My main thoughts are wondering how the main character will bond with her cousin, how the main character's brother is doing, if the best friend of the main character is alive and doing well since all this time the mc was sending her letters to let her know how america is but the mc's mother never sent it so nobody knows how the best friend is doing or does the best friend know how the mc is doing.
5. My reading goal is to finish this before the end of the month.

2. The book I am reading is The Maze Runner By James Dashner I read pages 87-95 today and my independent reading is going very well I am almost done with this book and I got my book in the school library. 3. To summarize the book up to where I am is that a boy named Thomas wakes up in an elevator going up and when the doors open he is in a weird place with other boys close to his age it's called the glade and it's basically just a maze and later on in the book a day after Thomas arrives another person comes from the elevator but this time its a girl and it's the first time it's been a girl and the girl is also holding a note from the people that sent the boys to the glade saying “she is the last one ever” which means they won't get any more new people ever again and then later Thomas is out exploring the glade by himself because no one is telling him anything or answering his questions about the glade and why they are there when he gets attacked by a boy that was stung by something called a griever and it is slowly taking him over and at the part, I'm at now the rest of boys are about to banish the boy that got stung by the griever. 4. I have a lot of questions about the book one question I have is why are they there? It's never said why they are sent there and another strange thing is that when all the boys woke up in the elevator they didn't remember anything before the elevator and they only remember their names. 5. I personally think that the book was slow in the beginning but it starts to get very interesting later on in the book. And a reading goal I have for February is to finish this book and start a new one for March

The Perks of Being a Wallflower - Anna Febrero

1. I’ve been reading The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. 2. I’m more than halfway through the book. 3. My book is about the struggles of high school, feelings and the life of a teen boy. Charlie, the main character has feelings for Sam, one of his best friends. Sam says they can’t date since shes a senior and she has a boyfriend already. So even though they both know they have feelings for each other they have to pretend like they don’t. Charlie also goes through a lot in the book. His Aunt Helen passed when he was a boy and after that he hasn’t been the same. His life at home isn’t necessarily nice either. Charlie has a small group of friends, his two best friends are Sam and Patrick. Charlie finds himself through new books and music. 4. I really enjoy this book because of the format it's in. It’s not like a normal book, it’s written in different letters. Charlie writes about his thoughts and feelings to some unknown person. It’s easier to read because it feels like the letters are getting sent to you. 5. I want to complete this book some time during January.

1. The book that I am currently reading is currently “Friends with Boys” the author is Faith Hicks. I don't really count how many pages I read but I know it’s a lot because it's words with pictures like a comic. 2. I am almost done with my book, basically just 4 more pages then I'll be done in less than a minute. The location of the book I’m currently borrowing for the next few days is from the Liberty Middle School Library. I have no clue what book I’ll be getting next. It will just be like one of those “oh this looks interesting” type of book findings. Like this book, I seem to have right now. 3. To summarize, the main character, Maggie, has been homeschooled for most of her life by her mom until high school. Once she got to where she would be a freshman she moved to in person school with her big brothers, but immediately after she moved into this new school. Her mom left and nothing else has been the same. 4. I honestly think this book is quite interesting and that's all. There are a few twists and turns I guess, not really but still. 5. My goal is to find a new book by the end of next week and for the next book to be better than this one. 6. I would rate my reading this week a 7/10 because at the beginning of the week, I would be reading, and stuff near the end I would get distracted and zoning out, but other than that I've been reading well.

1 ) I am reading The Crossover by Kwame Alexander, and I am on the last 5-7 pages. It is a phenomenal book and I've enjoyed reading it ever since the first two chapters. The mood of the book is very strong, and I resonate with some of the emotions shown within the story. The Crossover is about a boy named Josh bell becoming a young adult with his brother. He, his brother, and his father all share a common interest in basketball. Eventually in the book there is a major plot shift which makes the common interest more of a problem for the characters. there are lots of different conflicts which make this book so realistic and beautiful. I love how real the situations feel, and how the interactions between characters always leaves me feeling a different mood. The father is a retired Lakers player, and has a history with basketball which he lets his children learn from so they can develop there own special relationship with basketball. This book is a must read for anyone who loves a good, emotional, and realistic story. I definitely reccomend you try reading it.
2 ) I am currently FInished with my independent reading book - The Crossover by Kwame Alexander, and I am about to start reading Rebound by Kwame alexander. They are an amazing series and I'm sure Rebound will be a great book.

3 ) To summarize The Crossover book, I would say It's a greatly detailed book about two brothers who both love basketball. Their father was a basketball legend and they are trying to become as good as him throughout the book. Even though they are becoming better at basketball by playing, they need to work as a team to get it done. There are some bumps in the road they take while they try this.

4 ) I really liked my book, since it takes a lot of time to develop characters, and the surroundings of the book. There are conflicts near the end of the book which I like to look back at and think about.

5 ) My specific reading goal is to be able to read on a highschool level even before I graduate. I also want to be able to read a book and deeply understand different aspects of the book which are not easy to understand.

6 ) I would rate my independent reading as a 9/10 for this week because I was very engaged, and I was able to get into the flow of reading more consistently.

I'm reading the book New From Here by Kelly Yang and I just started reading a couple days ago. I picked this image because it represents Knox and his dog that his family got him because it was hard for him to make friends. His dog Cody is staying behind with his dad because they can’t take him to America.

I started the book a couple days ago and I’m at page 33.

The book takes place when the coronavirus first started and Knox and his family live in Hong Kong. Knox, his brother Bowen, and his mom are discussing moving to America temporarily so that life will be easier for them for the time being, while his dad stays in Hong Kong for work. leaving Hong Kong also means that Knox has to leave his best friend ( his dog) Cody behind. This is hard for him because he had a hard time making friends before he got Cody and is afraid he is going to be alone like before. On top of this, the mom tells Knox and Bowen that they need to try to "fit in" a little more when they leave so they don't get treated differently. (2/3/23) The part that I read today is about them getting ready to fly to America and them leaving Hong Kong. It is hard for them because they have to get used to being extra careful wherever they go.

So far I am enjoying the book and in some parts of the book I feel that I can relate to it. When I read this book it’s like I can make guesses on what’s going to happen next and it makes me excited to read more.

My reading goal is to get to half of the book next week.

I rate my independent reading a 10/10 because the book kept me interested and whenever I'm reading I don't want to stop.

1)Currently, I am reading a book called “every last word” By Tamara Ireland Stone. 2) And this is the image that I chose because it reflects the main character Samantha. She has this thing with the number three, I believe that the number three will return later in the book with a deeper meaning. 3) Today I read pages 58-68 of my book. I am not very far in the book. My book is about a girl named Samantha struggling with OCD and trying to keep up with her social life, and swimming. Throughout the summer Samantha, took swimming lessons because she feels safe and that she can let go, while she was there and she had a big crush on her swimming coach Brandon. But summer has now ended and she has to go back to school. During the first week of school, she made a new friend named Caroline. I can't explain much without spoiling but, Caroline tells Samantha that she will show her a place that will change her life forever, and to never tell anyone about it. The next day Samantha goes to her therapy session and talked to her therapist about the new friend she made. 4)I wonder if Caroline and Samantha will become close friends later in the book. 5) My goal for this book is to finish it this month.

Today I read from pages 68-84. The main character Samantha went to her friend's birthday party at a spa, that she was invited to last minute. All the girls had premade matching stashes with their names imprinted on them, But Samantha was the only one without a stash. After the Spa, they had a reservation at a fancy restaurant. Once they got there there were not enough of seats so Samantha had to sit with her friend's mother. Samantha decided to leave because she felt very excluded.

6) I rate my independent book a 9/10 by it keeps me interested in what will happen next. I also like this book because there is a lot a emotion.

1. The book that I am reading is, "Holding up the Universe," by Jennier Niven. Today I read 9 pages. 2 I just started this book recently so I am only in the beginning. I got this book from Dr.Gordillo’s classroom. The format of the book switches off between the two main characters, Jack and Libby's point of views. From the part I read today, it was mainly told from Jack's perspective. 3 He is on and off dating this girl Caroline and in this part, they were broken up. In the meantime, Caroline was dating this other guy, but then two weeks ago they had broken up. So this left both Caroline and Jack single once again. Jack has this disease called Prosopagnosia, which means he can't recognize anyone's face. Although since he had known Caroline for so long, he was able to tell her apart from other people. So in highschool she would make him feel safe walking in the hallways since he didn't know who anybody was and she could kind of guide him. Jack was missing her so he met her outside of the library and grabbed her and kissed her. So, they started dating again. Now Jack can feel safe when walking in the hallway. 4 I think that although she makes him feel safe, they shouldn't be together because they kept breaking up so they were very toxic. 5 My independent reading goal is to not get distracted during reading time. I am also a very slow reader so I am trying to get faster at it. 6- I rate my independent reading for this week a 6.5/10 because I did read, but I got distracted a lot and could have done better. Next week I will come into class more focused and ready to read.

Andrew Anim-Sackey- Æsop fables by Ash higton.

1.The title of the book that I am reading is Æsop fables By:Ash Higton. 2. I read about 12 pages today and am currently on page 62,about half way done. My book tells the story of fables highlighting all the way back to 620 to 564 BC. This book is very popular and very well known, you have probably heard one of the stories like the Frog and the Ox or one of the MOst famous “The turtle and the rabbit. I got this book from the fiction basket, even though the book is kind of a fairytale I think. I will be starting a new book shortly and I hope that it is a fiction action book with a good story because I think those are one of the best types of books.3. In summary this book can teach u alot about what are called “Morals”. A moral is the principle of the book which could help you in the future. For example in the story The Donkey and the fox the donkey was wearing a dead lion's skin and scaring animals pretending to be the lion until it started talking and the fox noticed and called it out which made none of the animals scared anymore. The moral was “A fool may deceive by their dress and appearance, but his words will soon show what they really are. I like this book a lot because it shows a lot and is kind of wise in a way 4.i think even though they are fables they are meant to be interpreted in a real way. I wonder if someone will make another part of Æsop fables one day. 5.My reading goal is to finish this book by Monday and to keep the streak of me reading and finishing books going.6. I have rated me on my independent reading a 9/10 this is because i was very consistent and i finshed all 90 pages in around 2-3 days.

1) One Of Us Is Next by Karen M. Manus is the sequel One Of Us Is Lying. I chose this photo because it represents the anonymous person behind the screen spilling everyone's secrets.

2) I just started my book, and it took a few pages for me to finally enjoy it. I'd been waiting for this book for a month and finally got it from the LMC earlier this week. I anticipate reading the third installment of this book series once I finish this.

3) About That is a popular go ssip app. The students receive a group text about a "Truth or Dare'' game among Bayview High students. Choosing "Truth" reveals a secret, while selecting "Dare" poses a challenge. The app was created by the late Simon Keller. There have now been numerous copycats constantly trying to follow in his path. Phoebe is the first victim at Bayview whose secret has been revealed, negatively impacting her relationship with her sister Emma. Everyone at Bayview enjoys gossip, but also Phoebe is maintaining her own as she becomes the talk of the school.

4) I believe this book is good, but I do not really think it's going to be better than the previous one. A variety of clone gossip apps have sprung up since Simon's death, but none of them have been able to fill the gossip void quite like he could in the year since the Bayview four were cleared of his shocking death. The issue is that no one has the facts. I also assume the individual who initiated this Truth or Dare game will shake things up and come up with some interesting new gossip.

5) I want to start a reading habit, I want to read more and not just in school or in class. I want to read up to 300 pages a month to keep my brain refreshed. By the end of the year I want to have read a total amount of at least 10 to 20 books

6) I rate myself a 9 because during independent reading I dont look up, I dont get distracted and I read at least 7 to 8 pages

1. The book I am reading the A Face Like Glass by Frances Hardinge. Today I read pages 119-121 I don't really take this book and read it that much but I started it in December.

2. As of right now I am not even halfway done with the book as it is 488 pages and I do not take the book home and read it. I will probably not start a new nook until I finish this book that I have already

3. This book starts in Caverna where there is an underground society where there are skilled artisans who are not able to show their emotions. This is why they have mask makers who make their masks and can show a lot of expressions and emotions to people. This is also why these people that come from the underground society can't take off their masks.

4. I wonder if the person that was chasing after this rabbit would not have gotten caught by the grand able master and have gotten caught by him and have been taken away.

5. I hope to finish this book by like somewhat of the end of the year cause I have been reading this book as my independent reading book for a while and even though it is very good I kinda just want to start with a new book.

6. I would rate my independent reading 5/10 I only really read in school this week which is why I rate it so low

1.The title of the book I'm reading is Dog Days by Jeff Kinney . I choose this image because Greg is in summer and he does not like to go to ANY family trips. He always wants to stay inside playing video games .

2. I started reading this book about three weeks ago . I am almost done with the book because I am more than halfway done .

3. This book is really about Greg and his family . Greg is the type of person who does not like to go outside during the summer and he likes to play video games at home all day . Rodrick Heffley is the semi-aggressive older brother of Greg and Manny Heffley and the drummer and founder of the rock band Löded Diper. His dad is a really normal dad , he does not really take part on most of the story . His mom is a loving and caring mother but can be embarrassing, bossy, hypocritical, dimwitted, overprotective, and naive. Susan seems to have very limited knowledge of kids Rodrick and Greg's age and constantly humiliates and ignores them. She constantly tries to get the family together which never works out.

4. I really like this book and it is very entertaining .

5. I want to finish this book by the end of this month .

1). I am reading The Education of Margot Sanchez by Lillam Rivera. Today I read about 5 pages. The significance of this photo is to represent how Margot spends her summer at her father's bodega working.

2). I just started this book yesterday and I am not too far into it but overall it is going great.

3). This book is about how Margot(the main character)Spends all the money on her father's debit card without permission to buy a new wardrobe for school. Margot ends up getting punished by her parents by making her work at Sanchez & Sons for the rest of the summer with no social life. She is trying to do anything to get out of this punishment so she can finally be free.

4). I think that Margot will try and do something that will get her into even more trouble while trying to get off her punishment.

5).
The Scarecrow Walks At Midnight By R.L Stine - nick intriago

1.) The book that I'm currently reading is “The Scarecrow Walks at Midnight” by R.L. Stine. I read pages 56-106. The picture I have chosen for my image reflects the mysterious things that have been happening in Jodie's grandparent's barn.

2.) The current status of my independent reading book is that I'm almost done with it and am most likely to finish it by this week. I probably won't start a new book until I finish this one first.

3.) Sticks says that his father brought the scarecrows to life using the e-book of superstitions the previous week earlier than Jodie and Mark got here. Stanley made a cope with Grandpa Kurt and Grandma Miriam. If they agreed to in no way chuckle at him never again and do what he desired, he would place the scarecrows to sleep. They agreed, and the scarecrows had been put to sleep. Now, Grandpa Kurt and Grandma Miriam have been residing in fear of Stanley, Grandma Miriam most effectively makes Stanley's favorite food, and Grandpa Kurt stopped telling ghost memories due to the fact Stanley didn't like them. The handiest trouble with Stanley's plan is that some of the scarecrows failed to fall asleep. Sticks failed to tell his father if Stanley located out that the scarecrows have been alive, he might try to take manipulate them. The door to the farmhouse opens, and Stanley, Grandpa Kurt, and Grandma Miriam come out. Sticks convince him that the whole thing is best, so Stanley starts to put his ebook away. Mark comes out of the cornfield, and Stanley thinks he is a real scarecrow. From that moment the real nightmare begins.

4.) My current thoughts about my book is that I think it's a good normal horror book and I really like the goosebumps franchise.

5.) A specific independent reading goal I have for myself is that try to read more than 3 Chapters per day or every time we do our independent reading.

6.) I would rate my book 8.5/10 because I like the different kinds of stories the author makes and it's really easy to remember and explain.

Yesterday I finished my book.
2)Now that I finished my book I’m somber because I’m going to miss the characters, especially Rosie and Lilo. I got my book at the book fair and read the back and the first chapter if I liked it. I bought it and I loved it!
3)My book is about Rosie the kitten when she was found by her rescuers. She was small and frail until she made friends with a white furry husky...Lilo. As soon as Rosie was spending more time with Lilo she began to feel great. They became friends over time. Now Rosie does everything with Lilo. They both now even go on walks and other adventures!
4)Even though I finished my book, this book made me smile because of the connection they have, even though Rosie and Lilo are different species.
5)My specific reading goal is that focus on the book and read a book that interested me.

1.) The title of the book I am ready is Trejo, My life of crime, Redemption and Hollywood by Danny Trejo with Donal Logue. Today I read pages 30-36. I chose this image because Danny Trejo is very unpredictable. You never know what he’s gonna do next.

2.) I just started my book and it took a couple of pages for me to actually enjoy it. I’ve had

this book lying around my house I ended up getting curious and wanted to read it . I will not

be reading another book until I finish this one.

3.) To summarize, Trejo. Danny retells how he managed the time of prison, rebuilt

himself after facing sobriety and spirituality. He also shares the painful contradictions

in his personal life. He uses his past to inspire countless others on their own road to recovery and redemption, he struggles to help his children

4.) I really am enjoying this book, I think that this is a good biography and I would

like to read other books like this one.

5.) My independent reading goal is to read at least half of the book by the end of the

month.

6.) I rate my independent reading a 7/10, I would rate this a 7/10 because I feel like

I have been reading less and getting distracted .

This book is about a boy named Peter Hatcher and his brother Fudge always annoys peter. Like when Fudge is scribbling all over his homework on purpose, or when he throws a temper tamtrum and he nevers gets in trouble.

4. I accessed my book from the classroom where I mostly do with all my books. Recently I have been getting more into the “word” books and reading them more than the comic type of books. I plan to finish Every Last Word probably on May 20. I don't really know what I'm planning to read next but I might go to the school library to get a book because I had seen a couple of comic books that I really wanted to read and was interested in.

3(For my book right now i can't really summarize anything since im really only 16 pages in but the main character does have OCD and has really bad problems with intrusive thoughts so she really struggles with it and she hasn't told any of her closest friends about it because shes insecure about and doesn't want her friends to think shes a freak. As a sport she does participate in swimming so we will be hearing more about her sport.

4(I don't have much thoughts on the book except that I am enjoying it and that I am interested in continuing it. I do question how she will deal with her OCD and her intrusive thoughts throughout the story because from her perspective it sounds like she really has a hard time with it and doesn't do good with it.

5(My reading goal for this book is to finish it before May 20.
