The primary economic stage is usually the production of crops and foods using farms/agricultural purposes(commercial or subsistence). However in maple syrups case you need to tap into trees and slowly drain the syrup out of it. You can't just use any tree though you have to have maple trees specifically.
The first step of getting the sap is drilling a hole into the trunk of a maple and putting a tap in that hole, then you put a bucket under to catch all the sap. It takes time to get the maple sap since it drips out of the tree slowly. Making the syrup is a different process however

The secondary economic stage is where the grown product is sent to a factory to be prepared for consumer use. Usually its packaged or made into a different material.
Maple sap is first sent to a factory then process by boiling in large quantities, maple sap is mostly water so to get the syrup you need to boil it down. Once it's boiled down the products is stored in large containers until it cooled down. Then once cooled the syrup is made from the boiled sap, it takes 40 gallons of maple sap to make 1 gallon of maple syrup. The syrup is then bottled and sent to countries around the world to be put on waffles and pancakes.
