“What does the proposal require?” 

It requires the use of the appropriate register, tone and format to write about the choice of activity for the VIA, ways to serve and relevant details, the ways the activity would benefit the students, why the activity is chosen instead of the other and a concern that may arise and how it may be addressed. 

OUTLINE: 
- choice of activity: partnering with the NParks for a beach clean up at East Coast Park.
- ways to serve: 
• clear rubbish from the sand and pavements 
• sort out recyclables from trash 
• use tongs to pick up the trash and dispose them in garbage bags. 
- transportation: we will walk there as the school is near the East Coast Park. This will allow the students to exercise.
- cost: we will not need much money as we only need to spend $20 on tongs and $15 on the garbage bags. There is no need to pay for the transportation as we would be walking to the park.
- benefits: the students will learn to protect the environment and learn to keep the environment clean, tidy and safe. The students will also benefit from the walking to the park as it is a form of exercise.
- why is this activity preferred: the East Coast Park is nearer to the school. Cleaning the beach keeps the environment clean for others to use whereas after the Chinese New Year party, the uneaten food and the rubbish left over will pollute the environment.
- concern: some people may not want to participate in the activity as they feel like they feel that it is a waste of time. However, we could issue VIA points and make the activity compulsory. We could also include competitions and award prizes to the class that picks up the most rubbish.

-They get to experience it in real life instead of reading off a textbook.

Why choose mount everest?
-Geography requires real-life experience whereas History can simply use the source in textbooks.
-Going to Mount Everest is more appealing and has more exposure than goong to see artifacts for History.
How to get funds?
-We can do car washes for parents and teachers.

Who will read my proposal: Madam Histree Low, the teacher-in-charge of Dunman High School Humanties Society will be reading my proposal.

What the proposal requires:
1) The choice of location - Mount Everest Base Camp.
2) How the students can benefit from the trip - Study the geography of the Himalayan Mountains, will have first hand experience of taught geography skills, opportunity to travel around the world and visit the tallest mountain in the world, will be able to learn more and remember taught information easier.
3) Why this location is chosen over the other - Students prefer geography than History and the history lessons about Nanjing can be learnt in class whereas it isore ffective to learn geography with first hand experience.
4) How we can raise funds for the students that are keen to go but not financially stable enough. - Charity sale of merchandise.
5) One concern which may arise. - Parents may not be comfortable with letting their children go to Mount Everest.
6) How to address the concern. - School letter to assure parents and insurance to be provided. Parental talks can also be held to provide parents with more detailed information.

-ways they can benefit: more conducive learning environment. better grades. students pay more attention in class
-more attractive to students: unique to dhs, other schools do not have this feature. 
-why this was chosen over other: cleanliness and condition of swimming pool has to be maintained and this requires manpower.
-concern: viruses may spread easily in an air-conditioned environment. students may fall sick more easily. place air purifier in classrooms and turn off air-con after pe lessons.
