1. Yes, we think that these social experiments should be carried out in secondary schools. This experiment can expose the secondary school students to different groups of people in the community and make them understand their daily lives. If the elderly who are involved in this experiment are feeling lonely, this experiment can also make them feel more included and maybe this companion can also remind them of their children.
2. We think that as individuals, we could be warmer towards the community and be less cold. If we all could be more kind, friendly and considerate to the people around us, they can all feel included. We should also take initiative to care for the people around us.
3. They could be afraid of the judgement from other people and they are scared that they would be treated differently or seen in a different light because of the disabled.
4. Most Singaporeans are not comfortable interacting with the disabled and do not understand them well enough. Although they sympathise with the disabled, they usually do not take the extra step to get to know them and their needs better.
5. The government could make the voices of the disabled heard. They could have community activities where the public could really interact with the disabled. They could also have more social experiments like the one in An Unexpected Friendship, where a random Singaporean pairs up with someone disabled. This could really let them understand the disabled more through the interaction.
6. We could be more open-minded and considerate. If we come into contact with a disabled, we could take the first step to talk to them. First impressions and slight judgement are inevitable, but if we learn how to push them aside and get to know them better, they could feel more loved and accepted into society.
