It would be difficult to cover all scenarios - should we have standards comms plans for our most common issues [outbreaks pools & Food & water; disaster response; MHPs]

Know your audience and use plain language were possible for public messaging.

I feel that there is sometimes some confusion regarding expectations of delegated programs. I think the delegation workgroup will be able to help clarify expectations and provide greater consistency within programs.

Having data available, especially local data in real-time. Real-time data assist with communications and education at a local level. If there is real-time data available, I am not aware of it.

Legislative Comms

During legislative sessions, things move quickly and are sometimes unknown to MDH with a lot of lead time. We rely on LPHA for a lot of that comms with LPH - should we do more when/if we can?

Regional LPHA

Can we leverage regional LPHA meetings more often. We have a MDH EH rep generally send an update, but this usually is just inspection statistics done by MDH. Can we utilize this space for policy changes, funding changes, etc. so public health leadership is aware and can pass it down our departments for awareness.

EH Manager Meeting

This is a group of EH Managers that meets once a month and could be used as a forum for policy discussions and consistent communication.

Sharing new info across all jurisdictions

There IS some collaboration between local agencies / locals and MDH in regards to new processes or equipment in the food industry. Possibly could there be a shared pot for something like this? I know Food Shield is great, but maybe promote things like this more, maybe when a new addition to the pot is made? Not sure if I'm writing a pertinent response for what is being asked here?

Prevention Planning

I am stuck on the idea that we are supposed to have an environmental public health prevention plan and the majority of our environmental health work is responsive and mandated verses planful and forward thinking. I have really wondered what that would look like especially if it was a partnered effort across agencies.

EH Specific - where does the majority of interpreting rule happen for FPLS? If one agency has a question for FPLS, assume other agencies have the same question. What platform does this get communicated in (reg forum, manager meetings)?
