I am from Brisbane, Australia but have lived and worked in New Zealand, Japan, the US and UK. I very much enjoy travelling, swimming, bushwalking and being in the outdoors.

I have more than 6 years of mixed experience in THE industry, working for business (InterContinental Hotel Group), government & NGO (PATA & Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism ), and training institution (Vatel in Foreign Trade University, Vietnam).
I want to work for HR - Training department of a hotel group and/or become a lecturer at a university when I complete the Master program. Therefore, while in Australia, I really hope to broaden my knowledge, and learn from how Australia do tourism and teach tourism.
I feel excited but quite nervous as I haven't got any formal education in THE industry before, and the learning & assessing here could be very different from the way I do Bachelor in Vietnam.

I'm Madoka from Japan. I was came from Kanagawa prefecture, which is about 1 hour away from Tokyo.
Currently I am hired in a railway company in Japan, and have been working there for more than 7 years. I had experienced 2 years of station staff (selling tickets, standing near the gate to guide people and do the fare adjustments etc) and I was a train conductor (making announcements, opening and closing the doors of the train, and selling tickets in the train if needed etc) for the rest.
During the pandemic, it was easy to see that we rely on international tourists. Therefore I would like to find a way to sustain tourism even if it is impossible to visit. Hopefully my studies will give a good effect to my career after I graduate.

I just got my bachelor's degree in Tourism Management in June this year. I like the tourism industry very much so I want to further my study in this discipline to gain more knowledge.

I had been educated in mainland China before coming to Australia and the way of education there is quite different from here. I feel a little nervous about my future study life, but I will try my best.

So far, I have only had a three-month internship experience in the tourism industry. I hope I can apply the knowledge acquired in class to practice in the future, and also hope to make more new friends.

I was born in Lithuania, a country in Europe famous for its lush landscape which includes beautiful woods, expansive rivers, dunes and breathtaking UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
I have a bachelor's degree in communication and entertainment.
I was studying in Lithuania and did my student exchange programmes as well as research in Israel, China and the UAE.
Shortly about my professional experience in THE:

1. Alserkal Avenue in The United Arab Emirates, Dubai. Was in charge of organising and managing events as well as tours inside Avenue.
2. Multifunctional centre - AOTU Space in Beijing, China. Coordinated events and worked with art shows.
3. Silver line organisation in Vilnius, Lithuania. Coordinated fundraising, arranged donations, held auctions, and communicated with key donors.
I am deeply passionate about solo singing, yoga, meditation, snowboarding, bushwalking, deep diving as well as sustainable tourism and meeting new people.
As of right now, I am looking forwards to growing together with you all, learning more about Australian viewpoints on THE and expanding my understanding of this subject.

My past education and work experience is far removed from the tourism industry. I am both nervous and excited about the upcoming graduate studies in an educational system I was unfamiliar with. It is a totally new start for me.

I persisted in my choice to study THE Management because I am addicted to travel. I love experiencing each city on the ground - the food, the culture, the scenery, etc. Over the past 10 years, I have traveled to many cities, including Munich in Germany, Portland and Seattle in the United States, London in the United Kingdom, Osaka in Japan, and many popular cities in my home country China. By traveling to different cities, I can quickly experience the diversity of the world.

Since the outbreak of the 2020 epidemic, the travel activities of people have received a lot of restrictions from the social environment and policies. Through the upcoming courses, I want to explore how the tourism industry should continue to survive in the era of the epidemic and whether there are new tourism models.

I'm expecting to travel to Brisbane to start my studies.

You can call me Leo. I lived in Zhaoqing before coming to Australia. Zhaoqing is one of the favorite tourism places in Guangdong. It has been a capital city in Song Dynasty and it is one of the birthplaces of Cantonese.

When I was in the undergraduate program, I learned about some courses about the foreign culture, such as the cultural interaction between different nations, western culture and so on. Tourism has connection with the culture and I am a person who loves traveling, so I choose this program. Also, I like cooking(especially making desserts) in the spare time, therefore I choose this program and hope to learn something about the food and beverage.

The last place I travel abroad was Japan. I went to Hokkaido and Tokyo at that time. I experienced the excellent hot spring there, I tried exquisite Japanese cuisine under the Tokyo tower. Everything was fun and I want to travel to Japan again. Due to the epidemic, my trip was mainly in domestic places instead of the foreign countries. Traveling to Chongqing is my latest trip. Chongqing is a place that build on the hill. Therefore , I needed to go uphill and go downhill in most of the time. And this is quite similar to the Brisbane, so I was quite fit in this city when I first arrived here. In spare of the road, foods in Chongqing were also attracted me. I love eating spicy foods, Chongqing’s spicy hot pot and the spicy fry food satisfied me a lot. I have experienced a wonderful 7-days-vacation there.

I've lived in New Zealand since 2018 majored in Bachelor of Tourism Management. During my four years in New Zealand, I gradually fell in love with the culture there. Becoming a big fan of extreme challenging travel experiences, Skydiving and bungee jumping in Queenstown, is kind of memory I will never forget. Meanwhile, I also enjoy the connection and cooperation with travel destinations. My graduation project in Bachelor study is to design a virtual replica in the game Minecraft for Agrodome Farm in Rotorua, New Zealand. Thought Australia has similar cultrually background and also the Aussie accent with Kiwis~, that makes me choose UQ to contitune the Master study without any hesitation as soon as I get the Bachelor certification.
