There are multiple reasons why war is like a bouncing ball. Firstly, war is like a bouncing ball because they are constantly moving. Bouncing balls are energetic and quick moving. This is much similar to soldiers who fight in war, there is no time that they are not on the lookout for the enemy and they always have energy even when they are tired. Secondly, war is like a bouncing ball because there are high and lows. In every war, there are low times, whether it be the loss of a friend or a battle. However, in amongst this, many soldiers see the good times in war, like fighting and honoring their country. Lastly, when a ball is thrown into a wall, they are hit hard, but then they bounce straight back with even more force. This is like soldiers in war, whenever they are hit with a challenge they always find a way to bounce back and to have courage.

War is like a bouncing ball. It bounces up and down, however never gets anywhere. It stands still on the spot, never left never right. It doesn’t achieve anything, it just repeats itself, mocking everyone every time it bounces up and down. Ruining families, towns, and people hopes of the ball moving forward. It bounces one way, the ground retaliates. It rebounds the other way, gravity retaliates. There is no stop to this repetitive force trying to move forwards.

War is really tossed up and down with people believing it is peace, when suddenly they come crashing back down to the reality that it is only full of cold death, and endless grief. In this way it can be believed that war is a bouncing ball, rising up to the belief that in order for there to be peace there must be sacrifice, when ultimately the ball crashes back down to the hard reality that peace is never found in violence.

Through blaming the enemy in the meantime, peace isn’t made and the end consequence never changes; death of innocent lives, destruction, heartache, suffering, pain. It can become out of control the advantage being thrown back and forth and depending on those who throw ‘the ball’ the intensity of the fight can change either higher or lower until the battle swings against the enemy.

War is a bouncing ball. First, the ball is dropped and the war begins. The battle starts strong, but then drops over time as countries begin to starve and thousands of soldiers die. But this is only the first stage of the ball’s bounce, this is the ball initially dropping to the ground. Once the lowest point is hit, being extreme pain and morning, the ball bounces powerfully off the ground as soldiers and whole countries find the power to fight back once again. Then, after months of fighting, the ball must come down once again as countries come to an ‘agreement’. This the endless cycle of a bouncing ball as agreements are continuously broken and remade.

It has been around for centuries and will continue to say common for many more. The ball bounces from one place to another causing havoc and destruction wherever it touches. When you drop a ball on eth ground, it starts bouncing high and fast, but as it continues to bounce, the bounces grow smaller and weaker until it finally stops. The older you grow the less fun the game appeals, and see how simple minded it was to begin with.

War is a bouncing ball, because it is uncertain of the potential power it has. It could Bounce as high as the moon and come falling back down as destructive as a meteor. Each bounce could land anywhere, where anyone could be effected. Those who throw the ball are not aware that it can come bouncing back to them. Those who bounce it back and those who throw the bouncing ball to and from, do not realise the harm to those in-between the path of the ball. On the path lies the victims of the damaging, hurtful bouncing ball. Eventually the ball begins to roll and the game is thought the be over, but in reality the bouncing ball is likely to return. Likely to be easily picked up and bounced once again.

War is a bouncing ball, there is both an up (good) and a down (bad) to it. The down is the death and destruction, the people who are mourning and the people in fear. The up is the economic success, the middle and upper classes benefiting from the jobs and money, as well as freedom and peace for countries. The person hitting the ball is the government, who is in control of starting and stopping the war and can do so at any time. The ball is constantly bouncing up and down and will eventually slow down and stop bouncing, but as soon as someone picks the ball up again and bounces it, the cycle will start again.

War is a bouncing ball A bouncing ball is agile and responsive to the throw forced upon it. In contrast, the inside is hollow, only filled with air representing a soldiers emptiness and lack of strength at the conclusion of war. Similarly, soldiers who have fought or are fighting at war show courage, patriotism and mate ship through their emotions they express to others externally. However, internally they may fear the aftermath of war being post-traumatic stress disorder or loosing their life at war.

“War is a bouncing ball” War is like a bouncing ball with its hard thumps when the ball hits the ground with a harsh bang just as a bang of a gun. War is like a bouncing ball starting with high bounces ending with smaller bounces. Just like the soldiers they start at a high number with enthusiasm but then the number of soldier’s and the enthusiasm gets smaller and smaller as the bang decreases the soldiers. Until the bouncing stops when a country surrenders. The 1000s of soldiers who entered the war, only 10s of men survive. War is like a bouncing ball as a ball wears out as each bounce scratches the outside the ball just like the soldiers who get a battle scar every time a bang is heard. The few people who come are stuck with permanent scars.

War is a Bouncing Ball The metaphor war is bouncing ball can be interpreted in many different ways. I interpret this metaphor to mean that war is back and forth. War takes two to fight, like how if you keep bouncing the ball it keeps bouncing for a long time. This can also mean that a ball doesn’t just bounce by itself, someone needs to start it in the first place. The way to stop a bouncing ball is to pick it up, indicating the case of war that someone needs to be the bigger person and stop at some point.

War is like a rubber ball. War itself may appear simple but can be made complicated. It can be made complicated if you put your own spin on it. Many games involve playing with rubber balls as children. War was depicted as a fun game to make citizens and particularly young men or youth to enlist in the army. A rubber ball can be used in a competition to see who is better than one another. The rubber ball is thrown back and forth like bullets and conflict. Nobody likes to lose.

The extended metaphor of ‘war is a bouncing ball’ refers to war being a continuous event. As the ball bounces up it represents a new war or conflict but as it descends it represents a rest period of peace or less conflict. A ball bounces continually up and down until either someone purposely stops it or decreases the velocity and power of the bounces so it stops quicker. This is very similar to the idea of war. War can only be stopped or decreased by people taking a stand against it, promoting peace and attempting to stop the dominant discourse

“War is a bouncing ball”

One way this metaphor could be interpreted is that war is a bouncing ball because a ball could bounce in any direction. This means that the bouncing of a ball is not predictable just like the outcome of a war. When a ball bounces it could bounce on a surface that projects it in a completely different direction that was expected. This is related to war as it cannot be know what country will win, how many people will die, who will die and who will return home to their families. Overall, the direction a ball is going to bounce is not predictable just like the outcome of war.

The metaphor war is a bouncing ball is describing that war has its ups and downs and can sometimes get out of hand. When you are bouncing a ball, the ball goes up into the air and then falls back down to the ground, this could interpret the many situations in war as the good situations of success and freedom for you country but it can also interpret the bad situations like death and loss. When you are bouncing a ball it can sometimes get out of control and too hard to handle just like in war it can all become difficult to handle.
