These are drops that can stand alone and get bigger the higher they are dropped from. The directon in the bloodstain pattrens come and are depremined by the tail found in the blood drops.

There is a gravitational pull of 5 feet per second for low velocity which results in a large stain of 4mm in size or larger.

The direction of the blood in this picture is going up as if something hit a pool of blood and was there.

There is a pull of 5 to 25 feet per second which leaves a stain the size of 1 to 4mm.

This picture looks to be the outcome of a gunshot wound from a crime scene. If you look close enough you can see the body outline and there is a misty apperance of the blood the farther away you go from the center.
The direction the blood looks to be going is away from the center point.

High velocity has a force of 100+ feet per second which we end up with stains 1mm and smaller.
