Anglos Saxon words are more sonic — closer to the reader, shorter. They are used when we want to communicate effectively: FUCK OFF. French, latinate words have lots of "shsssh" sounds that dilute the important strong vowel sounds.

Latin words are longer — like "perfume" not Anglo Saxon like "stink."

We hear the sound of words as we read.

It is important to consider the distance to the reader as we write, — do we want to be intimate or to be more objective at an distance?
