She first meets Noi and Ghan, her cousin, to get their help to change her father’s mind. To her surprise, Noi refuses to help her and thinks the city is ugly and cruel to a young girl like Dawan. She further says that the city is not a safe place for Dawan to stay and mostly in the city, young girls like Dawan will turn into prostitutes or call girls. After hearing those things, Dawan is brave and determined to decide that she will see those things for herself in the city. In my opinion, her bravery helps her to stand for her dream to study in the city school firmly and does not being hestitate after hearing Noi’s negative comment about the city.

                Dawan also bravely meets the head monk to get his help to persuade her father. This happens because the head monl is the respected person in the village and everyone thinks highly of him and always follows what he says. Dawan thinks that the head monk could be unbiased who can support her because monks are usually non-judgemental. However, in their conversation, he asks Dawan to learn the Holy One’s noble truths, learn to accept the transience of life and do not be too stubborn on the things that would not last for long. The head monk is as biased as other villagers and refuses to help her. He also asks her that “what could a mere schoolgirl” like Dawan learns in the city. Dawan id livid and she thinks that the head monk is a hypocrite. In my view, Dawan’s bravery help her to try any opportunity that could let her father to approve her to study in the city. Her bravery also helps her to voice out her unsatisfied about the gender inequality to the monk.

                Besides that, we can clearly see Dawan’s bravery when she talks back to her father. Her father wants to meet both Kwai and Dawan after he knows that Kwai comes in second in the test and he is furious at Kwai for not telling him. Father wants to indoctrinate both of them so that Dawan could step aside and give up the scholarship to let go in her place. Kwai tells his father that he would not go even if father order him to go because it is Dawan’s right to choose for herself. Dawan bravely speaks for herself and begs her father to trust her abilities and support her just like how he treats Kwai. Dawan’s words touch her father’s heart and he finally tells her that “then try my daughter.” In my perspective, Dawan’s bravery helps her to win the chance to study in the city school after getting the scholarship by herself but not rely on others to convince her father just like what she has done before. She uses her determination to persuade her father and she is success in the end.

                In conclusion, Dawan has took a lot of action and strive bravely to gain the opportunity to study in the city school. We should learn from Dawan to be a brave person and do not give up when we meet obstacle.

First at all, bravery has helped Dawan when she wants to chase for her right to further her education in the city.  Although there is nobody support her, but she never gives up the opportunity to study in the city as well.  Oppositely, she has studied hard to gain the scholarship and tried a lot to get permission from her father who wants her to give this chance to her younger brother, Kwai.

Besides, bravery has also helped Dawan to change her life.  Dawan know that education is the only one way which can help her to create a brighter future and she wants to helped the cheated villagers after studying in the city as well.  Therefore, she decides to meet Ghan and Noi who have lived in the city before and the head monk who is respected by the other in her village to prove the uses of city life and helps her to change her father mind.

Furthermore, bravery has also helped Dawan to solved the relationship problem between her and Kwai.  She has stopped Kwai from hitting Bao in the market without any hesitation.  As the result, she has hurt her knee and Kwai realises his mistake finally.  At the end of this novel, they are getting close with each other again. Kwai stops being jealous and decides to help Dawan to get the permission to study in the city from their father.

In conclusion, bravery can help us to overcome the problems and mistakes that we did in our life.  With courage, we will become better and gain the goals.
