By involving varying groups of students, it provided me the opportunity to reach more students and helped them to reflect on what they are thankful for. It was a fun project and the kids seemed to enjoy what they were doing, too. As for me, I am grateful for many things, but I am grateful for the support I have had from the staff at school.

Mr Gobbles sent a letter with some of his feathers to K-3rd grades. He asked them to write on his feathers what they were thankful for. He told them he would be cold until he got his feathers back. Now he is thankful for getting his feathers back!

I took a poll of what the teachers were thankful for and adapted the project around what they were thankful for. Then I had them color the turkey however they wanted. I put all the turkeys on a black poster board and displayed Thankful For at the top. I’m thankful for my family, friends, and pets.

I included my students in which they had their hands traced and to think of two things they were grateful for and then had them decorate their hands. If there is one thing I'm grateful for this holiday season, it's the Southland community and the students I tutor every day.

Two of my Reading Corps students in the after-school program helped me put up the "Stars of Thanks" display. It is on a wall that the children pass every day on their way to gym class. Responses range from family, friends, food to life.
