Guatemalans migrate to the USA due to economic opportunities, poverty, inequality, lack of access to education and healthcare, and the threat of violence, insecurity, and disaster risks. Family reunification is also another important aspect because those who immigrate may want to relocate their relatives in the country. This is a decision that is not purely based on economic factors as some people think it's a mixture of economic, social, and personal factors.

There are numerous motivations for the migration of the Guatemalans to Mexico. For instance, they look for economic opportunities. Secondly, many go to Mexico in order to escape violence, which is caused by gangs of drug dealers. Other people move to Mexico in search of family reunification. Limited access to quality education and healthcare in Guatemala also leads some to seek these services in Mexico.

The causes for the migration of Guatemalans to Belize include economic motivation, historical relationships, insecurity from war, and crime. Another reason for migration is perhaps Belize’s accessibility, historical ties with certain countries, and connections with people who immigrate there. It is likely that the reasons behind the Guatemalan migration to Belize are more complex and intertwined with such issues as the economy, society, and personal needs. Push factors for migration may include better employment opportunities, higher salaries, or family ties. Picture above shows all the countries Belize is tied to.

It is easier for people to migrate from one country to another due to their close proximity and some people may see this as an attempt to escape poverty. The politics of family ties and reunion also plays a role in migration whereby some perceive Honduras as better on political stability and security.

Examples of economic aspects are more jobs, increased wages, and good fortune. The skilled population is attracted to Italy’s varied industrial base as well as its sophisticated labor market. The educational opportunities provided by prestigious universities and cultural heritages are also attractive. Another reason is family reunification because people wish to be with their families who have settled already in Italy.
