ACQUISITION OF HIKMAH

Hikmah in Islam is understood as a form of wisdom that unites knowledge, deep understanding, and righteous conduct, allowing an individual to discern the truth and live in harmony with Allah’s guidance. Attaining hikmah is closely linked to ibadah, as sincere and mindful worship cultivates inner qualities such as humility, devotion, and taqwa when carried out with a pure niyyah. Moreover, righteous actions (amal) reinforce hikmah by turning belief into consistent behavior, while the principle of ihsan inspires Muslims to worship Allah with constant awareness of His presence. Collectively, niyyah, amal, and ihsan establish a solid foundation for attaining true wisdom and leading a life aligned with Islamic principles.

Reflection:

This topic emphasizes that hikmah is achieved not merely through knowledge, but through sincere intention and continuous righteous actions. It encourages me to prioritize purifying my niyyah and refining my character in everyday life. The concept of ihsan promotes self-discipline and awareness, inspiring me to seek excellence in both worship and conduct. Ultimately, the pursuit of hikmah is an ongoing journey that nurtures both faith and behavior.

HIKMAH IN IBADAH

In Islam, humans are created with the purpose of worshipping Allah, and through sincere ibadah, believers attain hikmah, or wisdom. Acts of worship such as salah, sawm, zakah, and hajj are not simply ritual practices, but means of moral, spiritual, and intellectual growth. Salah fosters constant remembrance of Allah and helps prevent immoral conduct, while sawm develops taqwa, self-discipline, and compassion. Zakah purifies both wealth and character by curbing greed and promoting social responsibility, and hajj nurtures obedience, patience, and unity among Muslims. By understanding and performing these acts of worship with sincerity, Muslims gain hikmah that guides them to live in obedience to Allah’s commands.

Reflection:

This topic shows that every form of ibadah contains profound wisdom beyond its external performance. It encourages me to see worship not as a habitual duty, but as a path toward personal and spiritual growth. Understanding how salah, fasting, charity, and pilgrimage develop character and deepen taqwa motivates me to carry them out with greater sincerity and mindfulness. Overall, the topic affirms that true hikmah is gained through consistent worship, self-discipline, and a conscious effort to align one’s actions with Allah’s guidance.

SALAH

Salah is a fundamental act of worship in Islam that requires proper knowledge and preparation in order to attain khushuʿ. This topic highlights the importance of observing the conditions and pillars of salah, as well as understanding the role of wuduʾ and tayammum in maintaining ritual purity. While khushuʿ is not classified as a pillar of prayer, it is vital for achieving sincere and meaningful worship, transforming salah from a routine action into a deeply spiritual experience.

Reflection:

This topic reminds me that khushuʿ in salah does not develop on its own, but demands intentional effort and readiness. Gaining a clear understanding of the rules of salah and wuduʾ allows me to pray with greater assurance and concentration. The focus on minimizing distractions and preparing both physically and mentally encourages greater discipline in my daily prayers. Overall, the topic enhances my appreciation of salah as a genuine moment of connection with Allah and inspires me to focus on improving the quality of my worship, not merely its outward form.

KUSHU' IN SALAH

Salah performed with khushuʿ refers to praying with complete concentration, humility, and a conscious awareness of standing before Allah S.W.T. It goes beyond the physical actions of prayer and includes sincerity, tranquility, and attentiveness in worship. The Qur’an describes successful believers as those who show humility in their prayers (Al-Mu’minun 23:1–2). Performing salah with khushuʿ strengthens a person’s connection with Allah, nurtures good character, and helps prevent sinful behavior.

VIRTUES OF SAWM

Fasting in Islam is meant to develop taqwa, as stated in Surah al-Baqarah (2:183), where Allah commands believers to fast as previous nations did to strengthen faith and character. Fasting builds self-control and awareness of Allah, since taqwa is what truly prevents a person from breaking the fast; if one can give up food and drink, then avoiding sins becomes easier. It also nurtures virtues such as sabr, patience, and obedience to Allah, as well as rahmah by encouraging compassion and generosity toward others. These values are reflected in the levels of fasting, from abstaining from food and drink to avoiding sins and finally focusing the heart fully on Allah.

Reflection:

This topic reminds me that fasting is not only about staying away from food and drink, but about developing taqwa and self-control in my daily life. It makes me reflect on how taqwa is what truly keeps a person from breaking the fast, even when no one else is watching, and encourages me to be more mindful of my actions and intentions. Learning about the virtues of fasting, such as sabr and rahmah, motivates me to be more patient, compassionate, and generous toward others, especially those who are less fortunate.

VIRTUES OF ZAKAH

Zakah is a compulsory act of worship in Islam that aims to help those in need and is given great importance, as it is often mentioned together with salah in the Qur’an, showing that both are equally essential. Unlike taxes, which are collected by the government for national development, zakah is a divinely prescribed obligation with specific rules set by Allah, while sadaqah is voluntary and may be given according to personal choice. Among the virtues of zakah are strengthening ukhuwah among Muslims and providing support for the less fortunate. Zakah is especially emphasized during Ramadan so that those in need can share in the joy of Eid al-Fitr, and it may also be given to new converts (muallaf) to demonstrate that Islam is a compassionate and welcoming religion.

Reflection:

This topic reminds me that zakah is not just a financial obligation, but an act of worship that strengthens unity and care within the Muslim community. It makes me reflect on my responsibility to help those in need and to see my wealth as a trust from Allah. Understanding the difference between zakah and sadaqah also encourages me to be more generous, not only by fulfilling what is compulsory but by giving voluntarily whenever I am able. Overall, this topic deepens my awareness that zakah reflects the mercy of Islam and plays an important role in supporting others and strengthening ukhuwah among Muslims.

As for my part, I acted in the context of performing salah quickly. From this , I gained few knowledge about how we should perform our salah and avoid these kind of examples in our daily days as it can affect our ibadah and I also learnt that we should perform our ibadah sincerely and wholeheartedly .

WHAT DID I GAIN FROM THIS USRAH;

From this usrah, I gained a deeper understanding that Islamic teachings particularly salah, are practical and adaptable to various situations in life. The discussion helped me realize the importance of not only learning the rulings but also understanding the wisdom and purpose behind them. This deeper understanding has increased my appreciation of the beauty of Islamic teachings and has encouraged greater sincerity and mindfulness in my worship.

WISH AND GOALS;

My wish and goal are that the knowledge that i’ve gotten in this usrah session will continue to strengthen my understanding of Islam especially in how to apply religious knowledge in my daily life. I hope that through future discussions, I will be able to learn more and improve myself as a Muslim. I also wish for our usrah group to remain consistent supportive and united so that we can continue reminding and helping one another in seeking Allah’s pleasure together.

IMPROVEMENT;

Another improvement I hope for is better follow-up after each usrah session. Sometimes, I find it difficult to remember or practice everything that was discussed once the session ends. Having simple reminders, reflection questions, or shared notes would help me review the lessons and think about them more deeply. This would allow me to apply what I have learned more consistently in my daily life and help the usrah leave a stronger and more lasting impact on my spiritual growth.
