I worked the whole summer on a project with my friend. We tried hard to get up with an outstanding idea for the ISEF competition. We went to universities, talked with several doctors, and did a variety of experiments until we finally finished the project and entered the competition. We passed the first, second, and third processes of filtration until we reached the national phase and receive the second place in our category. The journey wasn't easy as it seemed we spent nights finishing the project and entering the competition before the deadline. I'm proud of this achievement and I see it as a significant event that opened a number of opportunities for both me and my friend. After the competition, we participated in several other competitions and worked on other projects. It's called Dakahlia STEM High School. In the past two years, I have stayed in this place more than I stayed in my home. The school is an internal school means I have to spend five days a week in the dorms. Return to my home on Thursday and travel back to the school on Saturday. It was hard for me, especially in the first year. That's because I was the only one from my village who passed the entrance test of the school, so I was alone in a new culture with different people (I didn't realize that they will become my best friends). The way of learning was different, I had to depend on myself and search for the lesson or open a reference to understand a concept. Yes, it was hard but I could go through this. I could finish my first year with a good grade and with great friends. Although it was a different culture for me and the first time to leave my home, I enjoyed the journey and now I'm going to enter my third year in the school. I had the chance to work with outstanding mates. All of us worked hard on the project. I was the leader of the team. Although we collaborated and worked in the right way, sometimes some challenges appear because the deadline for the submission was too early. I was trying my best to divide the roles and make sure that everyone is satisfied with his position. A week ago, we finished the exhibition. The river of my life isn't always straight for sure. It sometimes goes to the left or the right with a smooth or rapid change. The two bends above are examples. The first bend represents when I enter my internal high school. I think it is a smooth transition as I knew it will be hard for me at the beginning and will adapt to the changes and that what happened the river returned to the orange line after a while. The second bend represents a remarkable event in my life. It was the first surgery for me for a disease that I didn't even know I had. As it's shown in the river there is a sudden change. Thanks to god the operation was easy and I could recover fast. So this is my life (river) that is full of either smooth or sudden changes.
