2. Simon could not get rid of the image and starts to talk to the pig. This let the readers know that he let the fear control him and is not strong-willed. Simon is talking to himself. When the pig said that he could hunt the Beast and kill it, he means that he could not be killed since he is a part of Simon. Before the situation, Simon thinks that the Beast was only them and tries to tell the others, but he didn't have any proof. The situation proves that the beast was his fear and perhaps the evil side of the boys. The beast said that they will have fun. The fun is the hunting. The hunting was torturous. 

3. Ralph was sick when he saw the pig's head. He also felt rage and lashed out on the remains of the pig. The significance is that he was no longer scared of the "monster" and overcame his fear. He is not going to be the savage like everybody else. Ralph was the only one that has hope. This shows the audience that the boys were thrilled to have murdered the pig and even caught laughs about it. The fact that they trampled on top of it and basically butchered it with their bare hands shows how sadistic the kids were.

2) Simon is horrified by the image that he's seen so deeply that he begins to imagine himself talking to the pig head. This shows that Simon was in a state of shock or fear so incredible that his sanity had depleted.

3) When Ralph found the LoTF, he became enraged and swung at the skull until it had cracked in half and fell to the ground. This is significant because it shows that Ralph was not afraid and that he was not going to give in to the savagery of what the boys had become. It shows that the only fear the boys had was in their heads. 

The LoTF is the darkness or evil nature in people.

The lord of the flies is the darkness/evil nature in a person

In the novel Lord of the Flies by William Golding, the Lord of the Flies represents the darkness or evil nature in a person. Jack and his tribe show their dark side when they participate in a torturous murder of a pig. During the murder the boys are described as "wedded to her lust". 2. When Simon first came in contact with the LoTF he examined it with horror. He was trying to recollect himself from everything that had just happened with the hunters. On pages 143-144 Simon starts to hallucinate when coming in contact with the pig where he soon becomes overwhelmed and faints. 
3. Ralph gets filled with anger and punches the pig head making it bobble back. He is enraged by the head because he knows what it represents. He doesn't want to give into his fears and he never lost hope.

3) Ralph is disgusted and knocks the pig head down out of anger. He hates the head and what it represents. When he knocks it down, he is refusing to give into his fear and become a savage.

4) On page 143, "fancy thinking the beast...", When the Lord of the Flies tells him that the beast is a part of him. (Simon is simply talking to himself). The beast is saying that the beast is only them and their fear is apart of them. Or maybe the beast represents their desires and the bad parts of themselves.

At first it's an idea, the littluns fear. then it changes into a thing, the dead fighter pilot. Next, the hunters began to worship it. It has taken different forms as the novel has progressed. It originally started out as a general fear the boys had at the beginning of the novel. One of the young kids mentioned seeing a "beastie" and put the idea of a beast in the other kids' heads. Later on one of the older kids said he'd take care and hunt the beast. Jack, the same kid who said he'd hunt the beast, soon started hunting for fun and became a savage with the other kids of the island. They soon took pleasure in the torturing of a pig while hunting. They fully murdered a pig and tortured it with no remorse. The boys "Here struck down the sow fell and the hunters hurled themselves at her." (pg. 135) They then used various methods to kill this pig with sadistic pleasure. Later to the next page, "Jack held up the head and jammed the soft throat down on the pointed end of the stick which pierced through into the mouth."
