It would certainly breathe life into the implementation of the First Steps programme. Children could even include a video of themselves say making a smoothie to accompany the written step by step account. Might be stealing this idea in September! 

How would you use a tablet/tablets to support literacy or numeracy in your classroom?

I would use it to enable the children to create a story either collaboratively or individually using Story Creator or Puppet Pals.
Activity Description: First children would create a paperbased storyboard to plan each scene/page of their digital story. Here they would also write their draft text and depict a suitable image or animation. They could then compile heir story using the app, choosing various backgrounds, animation, audio and text-to-speech functionality if needs be.
