Call to adventure

Hercules accidentally destroys his town (due to his unnatural strength), and the entire town makes fun of him. He feels like a misfit, so he leaves his hometown looking for where he belongs

Refusal of the call

Hercules feels hopeless. He gets lost during his travels until he comes upon a temple built for Zeus.

Meeting the mentor

Zeus and Phil are mentors. Zeus tells the audience how Hercules is to become a god again, and also how he can do it. Zeus sends Hercules to Phil, a trainer of gods, who agrees to train him.

Crossing the threshold

Tests, Allies, and Enemies

To get stronger, Hercules had to train very hard to reach the top. He had to overcome the many monsters sent by Hades and was still, not a hero. Hercules also had to save many villagers from said monsters.

The Approach

Hades tricked Hercules into giving him all of his strength. He used Meg as a lure, by telling him that if he could have his power for 24 hours, he would let Meg go. Hades used this to be strong enough to let out his monsters to defeat Zeus and Mt. Olympus.

The Ordeal

Hercules eventually gained his strength back, because in the deal Hades promised Meg could not be hurt and she did. She was crushed by a pillar to save Hercules. Hercules continued to fight to save Zeus.

The Reward

As Hades continues to cause mischief, Hercules defeats the titan.

The Road Back

Hercules returns to Meg and finds she is dead. He is determined to save her.

The Resurrection

Hercules attempts to save Meg's soul in the underworld as she dies. He makes a deal with Hades to take his soul instead. Hades agrees. After swimming through the ocean of death, Hercules emerges victorious and he is now a God. He goes to Mt. Olympus embraces his parents, and finds where he belongs. He decides to give up his immortality to spend a life with Meg.

Return with the Elixir

In the movie Hercules a young god is taken as a baby by Hades. He is immortal but Hades gives him a potion to make him mortal. Hades wants to destroy all and kill Hercules's father Zeus. Hercules goes on a journey to become immortal again so he can meet his father. Hades makes this hard by making him fall in love with his servant Meg, who sold her soul to him. He then uses this to destroy all, but Hercules wins and saves all. He gains his immortality back, but decides to spend his life with Meg on earth as a mortal.
