A week ago, on our first project of the course. We was tasked with creating an advert for the television. The advert could consist of anything we wanted. We was working in groups of our own choosing and then we sat down and discussed ideas for what this advert would be. We also created for this task a storyboard and researched other well known adverts on the TV for inspiration.

Today the group and I will begin filming the advert. Hopefully the weather conditions will hold up raining for us. Its been a pretty showery week or two. Although the first half of the advert is shot outside, Lewis and Matt think we should film the inside home shots for today. Baring in mind this is our first take so mistakes and roughness is to be expected. However I will stand strong on my ideas like I usually do. Heres hoping it doesn't fall on deaf ears.

Continued filming of scenes for the advert. With me as cameraman shooting the leaving and walking shots. We filmed each scene in till it was perfection. Took around an hour to film three scenes, for it to be of a decent quality and this amounted to 20 takes give or take, Ha ha.

After much hard work from all members of my group, we have the finished, edited product of our shampoo advert. I have to say so myself I was quite impressed with what we had. Everyone played their role to perfection, and I'll be surprised if anyone says otherwise

Self evaluation & completion of advert

The name of our group is MMML productions. The groups roles are as follows

Myself - Writer, Cameraman Mark - Editor Matt - Actor Lewis - Cameraman, Camera co-ordination.

Everyone worked to their fullest potential regarding the advert production. Regarding camera shots smoother transition from scene to scene wouldn't be bad. In hindsight, going into more detail with the costume and audio would improve the adverts delivery. We conducted ourselves pretty well, regarding we only just met and didn't know each other well to begin with. Sound worked well throughout the advert. The only improvement we could make is merging the sounds to fit perfectly in place with the visual track. Next time improvements could be to have a costume if required. Analysing the scene shots we was impressed and happy with what we had during a group discussion. The only improvement we could have on camera footage would be the use of tripods, especially outside. The down side to only having one camera on scene is you only have one point of view, so you can't see if other angles work better, plus more then one camera would save time during a shot. The kind of programmes inclined to use only only one camera, are low budget films and documentaries. What I learned from this experience is the different kind s of camera shots involved in making television productions. Directing the crew such as, actor, cameraman etc. Most of the ideas concerning the advert came to mind as we was filming. Which makes perfect sense if you think about it because when we was presented with the matter at hand we was a lot more able to complete the shot with the best possible outcome. Methods used to do this become voiced through the group whilst on set, but the main thing one will find is that, when presented with a problem as a group certain people always emerge as a leader figure and that person was probably me or Lewis the co-cameraman was trying to take over direction himself.

Today we received our iPads from the course. We are also starting to develop animated work similar to Windsor McCays "Gurtie the dinosaur" animation. Below you can see our animation development. A jet aircraft flying along doing a loop the loop.

Stop motion animation 6th October 2015

After much work hand drawing the shot by shot scenes of our jet plane flying and doing aerial acrobatics, which took best part of all morning and a bit of this afternoon, plus picturing our work. We just finished and have our completed animation work. I was impressed with what we produced, given it was my first time doing stop motion animation. In the future I feel confident that we can produce even better quality videos.

Business as usual concerning the stop animation work myself and Mark are currently working on. Stencils was the type of stop motion technique we was tasked with doing. The video depicts a squadron of planes flying in flight formation and then zooming off the map.

Research and production, continuing in animation involving idents. Such as BBC various programmes targeting a specific genre of people, BBC three a more youthful laid-back audience and BBC 1 and 2 of a more informative documentary style of introduction. My idea is about wildlife, specifically a hammerhead shark swimming around in DIY gear, going to the DIY shop. The idea is from the 'hammer' in hammerhead shark. My partner made a crude hammer, however my hammerhead sharks head was more realistic.

Yesterday we started with our base idea and began making the object for the claymation. Today we are going to continue the object making process towards completion and hopefully start the filming/capturing process as well.

We have prepared the set up for the claymation in our video today. We intended to start filming the animation, but unfortunatly all work spaces in the production room was occupied. However we will finally be able to film tomorrow and capture our idea on camera.

Me and Charlie's animation work has been successfully filmed. Painstakingly captured shot by shot, this method of filming is time consuming, due to the fact you have to move the appropriate pieces by hand to the correct place, take the picture then do it again, ever so slightly so the video is synchronised and doesn't look out of place.

In conclusion the claymation project of the animation module, was to my mind a success. Due to the originality of the ideas brought to the table, my different groups have benefited from my involvement in the ideas to direction to completion process.

The first project which was to make a shampoo advert to be shown on the TV. This group consisted of Myself, Mark, Lewis and Matt. Given this was all our first attempt at production and filmmaking, we all did very well. Genre of the advert - Comedy. In later work team groups and sizes varied according to task at hand and how certain individuals handled themselves on the last task.
