The paper applies Connell & Messerschmidt (2005) - a pre-digital theory - and essentially says "boys now do the same things but online." The theoretical contribution is thin here. The paper cites Ging (2017) on anonymity but doesn't deeply interrogate what is genuinely new about digital affordances
