The people in America welcomed them and they were here to work. Over 5 million Mexicans stayed and worked for money and a better life. Over hundred and thousands of Mexicans stayed for multiple reasons. While the government was welcoming the Mexicans here in the US others were sending them back to Mexico. A lot of them also got sent back because they didn't have the legal papers they needed. More than 4 million Mexicans were sent back to Mexico because of the people that were sending them back. Most Mexicans came into The USA from Texas like how most Europeans came from Ellis Island. Mexicans helped us and now it's our turn to help them by not building the wall.
Mexicans were once welcomed before because during world war two a lot of people were at war and we needed people to work at the farms so we let the Mexicans work at the farms for us. Since Mexicans weren't always working for us we decided to pay them and they also came here to live a better life and to get more money. The Mexicans mostly worked over 12 hours a day picking cotton, strawberry's, grapes and even more things. The Mexican are not welcome to the US anymore because Trump wants to keep the criminals away from the US but while trying to keep the criminals he is also keeping the Mexicans away.
