Video game addictions are close to compulsive gambling it gives the person a rush or a high so to speak. It also can allow someone to leave the real world behind where their not so great and become great in a online world. It also has a lot to do with the way the game developer makes the game for example the game developer with make the game hard enough to where you want to keep playing the game. Most games have a reward where you complete a task and get a reward which release a chemical in the brain called serotonin also known as the feel good drug and in combination with everything else I have listed video game addictions can develop.
