I believe that the value of early childhood education is very important. The foundation of a good education starts with an excellent early childhood program. During the first three years of a child’s life, essential brain and neural development occurs. During research the brain is strongly run by patterns rather than facts. Children learn best around themes, integrated learning, and whole experiences. During the first three years of life the human brain undergoes rapid development leading up to kindergarten. Children that are enrolled in an excellent childhood program seems to be more behaved and is very outgoing in social skills. With a child being in an excellent education program it will prepare them for the future.

According to Lev Vygotsky his sociocultural theory is something that I believe that we as educators need to remember every day. We have so many children now days that have some type of mental/health issue that have them delayed in some area. More children learn better when the adults don’t interfere by solving the problems for the children. We must learn to ask questions to the children about how they would solve a problem.

I believe that children learn in many ways. They learn through seeing, hearing, and hands on. I would provide children access to hands-on activities and allow adequate time and space to use materials that reinforce the lesson being taught. We know that with children their attention span only last for so long. But with some children they learn best by listening and speaking to others. I would have those children work in a group where they will learn a lot faster. As we know that some children may work best at recognize pictures over making out the words. To get the children to learn more efficient I would have the pictures next to the words and have them to work more on trying to learn it both ways.

As an educator I have a very valuable role. My role is to guide, and help children to develop their potential by believing in them as capable individuals. I will help them to discover who they are and how to express their opinions in a respectfully way. Environmental practices in the room is very important. We should have enough space, materials, equipment, and the safety of the children. Working with colleagues is very important. There are some colleagues that may be a veteran that has experience with teaching children and they can guide you with different ways to teach your children. Family engagement in schools improves student achievement, reduces absenteeism and restore parent’s confidence. The community role in education for children should give them a sense of a vital role in the development of their feelings of belonging and security.

My knowledge of child development is excellent. Early childhood development is defined as the development of children from conception and birth through age 8. Children grow with affection, attention and stimulation, good nutrition, proper health care. For children to grow they must interact with other people. They grow with having support from their caregiver. The characteristics and needs for young children are very important. For age six weeks to 12 months are as follow: attention, social contact with adults who tune in on their uniqueness., sense of well -being. Rest and food at the time they need them. 13 months to 23 months are as follow: Lots of time, space and equipment in which to practice gross motor skills (running, pushing and pulling objects, climbing) and fine motor skill (dolls, blocks, books, balls, puzzles with knobs, plastic hammers, nesting boxes). 24 months-35 months working on physical skills, less clumsy, and con balance objects. Playful; discovering; exploratory. 36 months -5yrs are as follow: cooperative; working on conflict resolution problems. Highly verbal; good vocabulary; application of linguistic rules (often with incorrect results). Quite well coordinated, can balance on one foot, stand on toes, learns to hop and skip later in this period.

Explain all the things that can influence a child’s development and learning Things that can influence a child’s development and learning is being hunger, being bullied, poor vision, violence inside and outside of the home. Lack of connectedness and homelessness. Being below grade level in reading and math ability. What should environments for young children be like the environment for young children should be kid friendly. There are several types of environment that children should be a part of visual, auditory, integrated, and emotional. Visual environmentisperceptions of objects, movement, and print are expanded as they have opportunities for experiencing interesting visual images. Auditory is a variety of music and instruments can expand the sound world of young children, while developing musical enjoyment. Integrated is activities that connect several types of learning are particularly effective for preschool children. Emotional environment also respects young children, while understanding individual differences

Based on my knowledge of child development there are several things that I do with child. I provide proper nutrition, regular schedule periods of sleep, physical activity. I respond to the needs of young children, and interact with them in an affectionate, sensitive and nurturing manner. In my type of work, I create a lot of different type of games that the children will enjoy playing.

Some positive things that a teacher can do to influence a child in learning and develop. Creating improved, better connected education for preschool and elementary children. As a teacher, it is necessary to motivate students and help them recognize their strengths and weaknesses. Educators are influential role models for students and have a substantial impact on helping shape, create, support and establish students’ strengths, goals and knowledge. Therefore, it is essential to be aware of the effective qualities, skills and characteristics that one brings into a learning environment.

The type of environment that I would provide to my children. Is a lovely, caring and nurturing environment. They type of schedule that the children will be on is a very rigid schedule so that they will know what will happen next. I would provide that all toys will be off the floor and to have enough space between each shelves.

There are several types of families that each possess different qualities. For example, there are nuclear, single parent, extended, childless, step, and grandparent families. Nuclear family is having a mother, father and children. Single parent is where one parent is raising one or more child(ren) on his/her own. Extended is a family where grandparents or aunts and uncles play a significant role in the children’s upbringing. Childless is a husband and wife that does not have any children. Step is a blended family where at least one parent has children that are not genetically related to the other spouse or partner. Grandparent is when there is a grandchild-grandparent relationship in a family and no parent-child relationship. Families do need support as well as an opportunity to be able to build a relationship with individuals involved in their child’s development. One way to support families is to incorporate some discipline techniques that are frequently used at home with their child(ren) to use at school. We as teachers can help parents with the guidance techniques. We can explain to them if their child is doing something wrong. They can tell the child that there are consequences for your incorrect behavior. A way to build a relationship with families is to talk with them about their children and let them know that you have their child(ren) best interest at heart.

Communities are different because we have some communities that are less fortune of having income to make the community look very nice. Some communities go over and above to make their community look like a very nice area. Ways that I support my community is by participating in different garage sales. Patronize the businesses in the community. A way to get to know the businesses is look them up on line and to go to each business in the community and talk with the owners are just some of the employees. Building a relationship with the business in your community is to talk with all the owners and employees and really get to know who they are.

There are a multitude of ways that you can get a family involved with a child’s development and learning. For example, parents can be incorporated to assist in a classroom activity on a regular basis and plan special occasions (festivals, teacher recognition events), ensuring day-to-day information is provided on children’s activities and development and having regular parent-teacher conferences, and providing information in newsletters about activities, goals and fun ideas to do at home. The ways that the community can help the children’s development is to train volunteer parents and community residents to visit families at home, where they can provide information about school programs and services, offer ideas about how to help children study at home, answer questions, and respond to requests. Having a Saturday event with reading to the children at the community center.

The diversity in the families at school and in my neighborhood. I talk with them at school and learn different things about their culture. The way that I support my families is by listening to what they tell me about their child. I also listen to them telling me about some of their families’ activities. I have involved families with coming to the school and reading to the class. I would include dolls of different ethic groups and have dress clothes for different ethic groups.

There is observation that is being done with each child.

When doing observation and documentation you document what the child is doing, while doing an observation you document anything that the child is doing or saying.

To have a strong relationship with children you must thrive in the context of close and dependable relationships that provide love and nurture, security, and responsive interactions. A positive adult-child relationship built on trust, understanding, and caring will foster children’s cooperation, motivation and increase their positive outcomes. To use computers and tablets is an effective way to teach children. All children don’t learn the same way. With having technology now some of the material breaks it down so that the children can learn it more easily. I would allow 30 minutes to use the computer or tablet.

Naturalistic teaching allows the generalization of skills acquired as learning occurs in a variety of natural environments. Informal teaching is you can have the children to learn outside of the classroom. Teacher-directed is standing in front of the children and telling them exactly how they should learn the material. The way that I teach is an effective way. I break down what the children don’t know and stay focus on just that area until the child has mastered that material. I changed the way that I was teaching the child because I used to just move on because it was told that the child needs to learn a certain material by a certain time. After really learning myself and knowing that children come first I realized that I was the person that can get them on the right path.

I have built a strong relationship with my children by listening to them and sharing daily hugs with them so that they know that they can trust me. I support the children learning by using a cd player and sitting there with them and explain what they are listening to and how to use it. With the informal teaching I have the children to look for a sign that looks just like a hexagon outside of the classroom.

With the teacher directions I stand up in front of the children and teach them exactly how the material should be learned. If I have some children that don't understand. I would divide them in two groups. One would be for the children that understand with the way that I showed them. The second group I would try a different way so that they understand the material as well. With naturalistic teaching I have the children to look for unfamiliar words when they go places with their parents. With my own way of teaching is more with what I have learned. I have not made any changes because I have been working with children for a long time.

Language is reading and writing development, Literacy is what children know about reading and writing before they can read and write. The arts, music, creative movement, dance and drama helps children to have positive emotional development, a decrease in disciplinary it motivates the children to learn in regular class. Visual arts help children to interpret, criticize, and use visual information, and how to make choices based on it. The children will be able to color a picture using their own creative minds. Mathematics increased functioning and opportunities in his life. The children would using unifex cubes and count the different colors. Science is a way of helping the brain grow in finding new knowledge. Physical education and physical activity is just about the same. Physical education is doing physical exercises and physical activity is using any body movement. Health and safety is teaching children about the importance of washing hands and how to prevent injuries. They tend to be inclusive, not exclusive. When doing physical education I would have the children to do racing games. They would also play hot potato.

They work best in context with other ideas and concepts, not in isolation.
They often focus on students working within social situations rather than alone.

Their activities, techniques, and goals are interactive and interdisciplinary, realistic rather than esoteric.

Possibly most important, they empower students to be actively involved in the processes of their own learning, rather than passively receptive.

I am now taking classes in ECE. I work at the Cherokee Academy at Clayton in Canton GA. I have received a certificate for The National Society of Leadership and Success and the National Engaged Leader Award. I have received my TCC and an Associate in Applied Science. Some ethics and professional guidelines that I would have it would be value and respect each child, respect the relationship of the child or young person to his/her parents, his/her siblings, other members of his/her family and other significant persons.

With taking class right now I continue to learn everyday about the field of education. I am not a technology person but I use the computer to play music for my children to learn new songs. I have done research on How important recess is to our children.Recess promotes social and emotional learning and development for children by offering them a time to engage in peer interactions in which they practice and role play essential social skills.
