The Valencian Community is an
amazing region with a lot of different landscapes like mountains, beaches…

It is situated in the
southeast of Spain, and it comprises the provinces of Castellón, Valencia (the
capital) and Alicante.

The population of this region
is about 5.129.266 in habitants, and a lot of them are from other countries,
like the English retired people who come to Spain to enjoy from magnificent
sun.

The winter in the Valencian Community
isn’t very cold because it’s next to the sea, but the summer is too dry and
hot. It has also got mountains for example in the north of the Castellon region,
where the weather is cold and rainy, and in winter sometimes snows, for example
in Morella.

Some of the most beautiful
nature environments in the Valencian Community are El Pou Clar Ontenient, which
a very good place to swim and enjoy your time in summer; Isla de Portitxol, situated
between El Cap Prim and El Cap Negre in Xàbia; L’albufera de Valencia, an
amazing natural park with 21.000 hectares; La Sierra de Mariola, situated next
to l’Alcoià, El Comptat and la Vall d’Albaida.

In the Valencian Comunity the people speak Spanish, but they also speak
Valencian. It belongs to the Western group of Catalan dialects. Under the Valencian Statute of
Autonomy, the Valencian Academy of the
Language has been established as its regulator. The AVL considers Catalan and Valencian to be
simply two names for the same language.

The most important festivities in the Valencian
Cummunity are “El 9 d’Octubre”, “ Las Fallas”
and “ Mors and Cristians”.In the “El 9 d’Octubre”people celebrate the day when the King Jaume I conquered Valencia in 1238.“las Fallas” is a festivitycelebrated from 15th to the

19th of March in some citiesin the Community. In this festivity people make amazing paperboard sculptures abouta topic and there is a competition. The loser sculptures are burned the Night
of the 19th of March.“The moors and Christians’” is a religious
celebration, it’s celebrated in all the Valencian Community, and it
commemorates the Muslim invasion in Spain.

A very important
sport in the Community is “ la pilota valenciana” and it is similar to tennis
but with a different ball and without a racket. An important “pilotari” (a
person who plays this sport) is Alberto Jurado.

The music of Spainhas a long history and has played an
important part in the development of western music and has been a particularly
strong influence upon Latin American music. Outside of Spain, the country is often associated
with traditional styles such as flamencoand classical guitar but Spanish music is in fact diverse, reflecting the
large differences in traditional music and dance across its regions.

A very typical
Valencian dish is colled Paella. The three best Known types of paella are Valencian paella, seafood paella and mixed paella, but there are many others as

well. It is said that the Valencian
paella is the original. The basic ingredients are: white rice, green vegetables, meat (chicken
and rabbit), land snails, beans and seasoning such as saffron, rosemary and lemon too. Optional ingredients include artichoke, pepper and chicken liver.Seafood paella is cooked with
seafood and meats. Mixed paella is a free-style combination of land animals, seafood, vegetables, and beans: sometimes..All types of paellas use olive oil.

Valencia has had an economic growth because this community has got good development in tourism,
transport…The four important sectors in the Valencian economy are Services, Industry, Constructions

and Agriculture.

The services are the 71.1% of the economy activity because there was a big increase

of tourism in the Valencian Community, so all the tourists needed to lodge and
eat in some hotels and restaurants like “El Bali”(the highest hotel in Europe).

The industry accounts for 16.3% of total production in 2010, so it made
Valencian Community a very famous region around the world for his ceramic (in
Agost), his furniture(Alcoy), his textiles and paper (Alcoy), his mechanical
toys and dolls(Castalla) and for his shoemakers(like Vinalopó).

The construction sector in Spain has had a very big evolution, specially in the
area of Valencia, but now a days, there are a lot of vacant buildings, so the
construction is not going well.

The last point is the agriculture, this sector
accounted for only 2.3% of the regional GDP, and it is dominated by citrus fruits, especially orange,
which represents most of the industry of Spain.

The most important thing in the Valencian Community is the tourism, because it’s the largest source of income. The tourism sector in Valencia assumes 7% of total GVA Regional, and contributes 9.1% of the production of tourism in Spain . For Valencian region, the tourism industry is very important , since it involves 7% Regional Added Value, and it concentrates 6% of employment and groups 9.6% of the business.

All the people come here to enjoy our sun, our beaches, our lands… That makes the Valencian
Community very famous around the world, so when you go to a foreign country and you say “Spain” or “Valencian
Community” the people think in our food, beaches, but most of the time they only think in Benidorm. Why? Because
Benidorm has amazing beaches, good food, festivals… and it is known in the entire world. Known as the "New Yorkof theMediterranean",Benidorm is the city with skyscraper inSpain, the city with more skyscrapers per person in the worldand the city with more skyscrapers per square meter in the world afterNew York . This is one of the most important and popular tourist

destinations in Spain. It reaches 400,000 people in summer, and not surprisingly Benidorm is the third city with more hotels in Spain after Madrid and Barcelona.

One of the most important places in the Valencian Community is “ Las Cuevas De Canelobre”. In them you can see the whimsical shapes that water and patient history have been giving to the rocks. The high and special conditions of the cave give exceptional acoustics, similar to gothic cathedrals, suitable even for holding musical shows.Another important place is the Museo Catedralicio-Diocesano. The current museum of the Cathedral of Valencia was created in 1966 by the Archbishop of Valencia Marcelino Olaechea .

Why do a lot people prefer Valencian Community? Maybe because our weather is good, sometimes it is cold and sometimes hot, they also prefer
it, because the Valencian food is one of the best in the world.
