I choose The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls. This is one of my favorite books. I felt a lot of emotions while reading this specific passage. I mainly felt sad, confused, and like I could relate! There has been many times I have gotten into huge fights with my parents or remember a time where they could have definitely parented me better. For Think and share #6 I chose "Medium Raw" by Anthony Bourdain was a great Author, Chef, and TV host of his own show. I found this part to be meaningful because we need to know this basic functional skill. Being able cook for ourselves regardless of gender is important. I enjoy cooking so it stood out. I made it a point to teach my child to take care of his needs and not rely on a woman.

This passage talks about breaking cycles and how they are hard, while in the book she is referring to abuse, I found it hit home in the sense that breaking any kind of cycle is extremely hard and difficult. It's easier to keep doing what you're doing then to change the pattern because of the unknown.

The book I've chosen is From Behavior to Belonging by Julie Causton and Kate Macleod. I'm currently reading it for another class, and I've found it to be incredibly insightful. One passage that resonated with me emphasizes that being a teacher goes beyond simply delivering the curriculum. At times, you may be the person who makes a significant difference in a young student’s life, especially when they are facing challenges and feel alone. I've also learned that building relationships with students is essential before you can effectively teach them. Students need the opportunity to connect with you and feel comfortable before they are truly ready to engage in learning.

I read The Forgotten Girl by India Hill Brown with my daughter for a project she was doing in school. I loved how this part of the book talks about honoring those that worked hard before us so we can have a better future.
