My river began at 8:06 PM in Atlanta, Georgia. I didn't quite have a fixed shape or form, but I definitely still had a river. A river has curves and ridges, strong or weak currents, and different landscapes. I had yet to find out what shape my river was and what landscape it belonged to.

I've been raised in Cambodia for two years when I was a baby, however, once I came to America, I completely forgot the language including how to write, read, and speak it. It felt as if there was a loss of connection between me and my culture and I didn't know how to restore it. Because I now live in America for most of my life, I'm constantly surrounded my "westernized" things which further made it difficult to connect with my native culture. I learnt the important values of how tradition is tied to family. Now I am relearning what my culture means to me.

Though I'm a generally bold kid, it was hard to be assertive in situations which you may be judge. However, my classmates tend to rely on my often despite my at first quiet impression. I'm reliable, competent, and punctual which a practical leader needs. However, I learnt there is more to a leader than practicality such as creativity, adaption, and flexibility.

My lake shape is a bit inconsistent or irregular, but for a reason. Initially, my river was a single straight line: it was calm, uninterrupted, and neutral. As my river continues to flow, there's bend and curves which branch out like a tree symbolizing the experiences which represents important life milestones or lessons I've been taught. My river still continues to flow and there's no set destination, just a journey.

The water is quite fickle honestly. It can be rough at a given time, smooth in the next. There could be strong currents, but gentle ones as well. It could be an easy straight course, but confusing curved courses too. The fickleness represents my moods and desire for change. I do not wish for a stagnant, easy river. I hope for one that gives a challenge, one you'd say you had survived and learnt.

My river is surrounded by multiple landscapes: a mountain, city, and forest. It's important to be involved in my community, but I also want to be involved with others as well (especially in those who are in need). I hope for my river to provide some comfort or aid, even if it's just a little to each landscape.

My river is taking a course which looks completely different than the rest of its body. As I'm transitioning from my teens years to adulthood, there's going to be changes which I may or may not be ready for. Even then, my river will continue to still flow, no matter how weak its currents may get. My river will continue to flow even when it stops raining, even when the path is too rough, or even when there's a huge boulder blocking it.
