These included "Bonnet, Bonnett, Bonnin, and Bunnett" among others. It is my grandmother's knowledge that my grandfather's great-grandfather had changed our variation, "Bonnet" ("bone-ay) to "Bonnette" ("bonn-ett") in order to evolve it into an easy, American pronunciation.
