A young boy named Max likes to dress up and cause a ruckus around the house. After getting yelled at by his mother he is sent to his room. While upstairs Max’s mind wanders off to a fantasy land where he is king and the “wild things” that he overlooks are similar to himself when at home. Later on Max gets lonely and is transported back to reality. Upon arrival hot supper is ready for him. This book fits under the theme of family because when Max is gone, he misses and appreciates his family and when he gets back he is taken care of. We see that even after arguments, family is important and will always be there for you and that is valuable knowledge.

The mother explains to her son about her connection to the bear and how it lead her to be the daughter of the Winnie the Pooh books author. This book fits under the theme of family because of the connection that the mother has to her son while reading. The passing down of stories is shown as the family members spend quality time together. The value in the book comes from the fact that the mother gets to share her past experiences with her son which helps them bond.
