         <description><![CDATA[<div>(1473 - 1543) Poland<br>- After going to 4 universities to study astronomy and medicine, Copernicus would keep on studying astronomy.<br>- Copernicus wrote an essay called the Commentariolus. In this essay Copernicus explained why the solar system had the sun placed at the center which was a revolutionary theory as it simplified and corrected errors in the old system.<br>- The heliocentric universe that was provided by Copernicus was so important yet controversial because it went against a system in place for more than 1000 years and did not follow the Catholic Church's beliefs.          <description><![CDATA[<div>(1337-1446) Florence, Italy<br>- I finished the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore with a dome that is still the largest masonry dome to this day.<br>- I rediscovered the principal of linear perspective which was primarily used in art and made Renaissance paintings far more realistic.<br>- I was the best architect in Florence up until my death and was commisioned by the Medici and Pazzi family to make Basilica of San Lorenzo, the Sacristy of San Lorenzo, and the Pazzi Chapel.<br>- I started the Santa Maria degli Angeli in 1437 but was unable to finish it. For example, the famous&nbsp;<em>The Thinker</em> statue is depicting a scene from&nbsp;<em>Inferno</em>&nbsp;where a man is contemplating the gates of Hell.</div>]]></description>

He was the founder of humanism and a classical antiquity scholar. Petrarch is often referred to as the "first modern man."</li><li>Humanism was credited to Petrarch as the founder. He was credited for humanism because he broke with tradition and completely changed the way people thought, learned, and lived.</li><li>Petrarchs poems were praised and imitated throughout all of Europe and his poem became a standard for lyrical poetry.</li></ul><div><br></div>]]></description>
