5 Easy Errors Commonly Made On Resumes

I chose this video because I think it's important for us to know what we're doing wrong when we write our resumes. Now that most of us are old enough to apply to jobs we need to know what companies are looking for and how to get hired. This video gives a lot of helpful information when learning how to write resumes, most of which I hadn't thought of, and is really simple and easy to follow and it's also very short so we could watch it if we were in a rush. During the video he mentions mistakes people make that I personally have done and have never seen anything wrong with, like listing your experience in chronological order instead of in order of how it applies to the job. He goes into a lot more detail about this common error and explains instead how you should go about listing your past jobs and internships. Lastly, I chose this because he explains each topic really thoroughly and avoids leaving questions at the end so people aren't left to worry if they're doing something the right or wrong way.

7 Tips for Writing the Perfect Resume

Although the last video has some similar tips, I chose this one because it lists a lot more points, pictures, and examples of how to properly write a resume. He starts it off by describing how he splits up his resume into seven sections: contact information, work experience, job description, education, GPA (sometimes), skills, and awards/extracurricular's. I think it's good that he explains each topic carefully because it's pretty easy to make a mistake when following a video on how to make something. He goes into more depth by taking the time to point out exactly what should and maybe shouldn't be on there, for instance, when he shows an example of his resume and talks about when it's appropriate for your home phone to be on there, if you should list your website, and what type of email you should provide. What I really like about this video is that below it he lists the times where he talks about each section individually so it's a lot easier to find the tip you're looking for. Towards the middle of the video he gets into a side topic about what employers are looking forward to when reading resumes, since he's had to hire for his company in the past he knows what it's like to go through the process and has an insight into how to sway businesses into hiring them. Overall it's a really insightful video and is also super easy to understand, it's a great video to watch if you're in a hurry to apply to a job and you need to learn how to make your first resume.

10 Ways To Easily Ace Your Job Interview

The last video I chose because I thought it went with the other two videos well and because it would be the next step after completing a resume. I like that it's able to fit all ten tips into this short video because I know we're always in a hurry to get things done and it's a lot easier when helpful videos like these aren't twenty minutes long! It's nice that there's videos like these available to us because a lot of the time we go in blind to our interviews and end up doing things that could potentially end up in us not getting the job. As he goes through the video he talks about each tip and gives examples of what and what not to do, I thought it was really helpful that he each time he mentioned a tip he went more in depth with his examples and past experiences. All of his videos are very helpful because he always gives lots of good advice that we're able to use when preparing for jobs and learning how to talk to our interviewer. When I saw this video I thought it was a good idea to add it to my list because he gives tips that people never would have thought twice about, such as not walking in with your earbuds, talking to the receptionist to make a good first impression, sending thank you emails, and a lot of other useful tips that could decide the difference between someone getting the job or being turned away.

This article is related to my theme because it discusses how teens and college students are supposed to make their resumes when they haven't been given the chance to obtain past experience. Since I know most of us haven't had a job yet, I thought this was a good article to include because it gives a lot of other ways someone can fill up their resume and still impress the company they're applying for.
