To be the blue-eyed-girl means that you're always the favourite.

René is a sister from Leon and Jayne. She is the second child in the family. Réne has always been the favourite child in the eyes of the family on her father's side. From the day that she was born, she was Al his angel. René had beautiful long dark hair and a pretty face. She could talk very well, compared to her older brother, and was very smart. On every birthday, even if it wasn't her birthday, she got the most presents of all the childs. Her grandmother, Al's mother, loved René twenty times more than her other two grandchildren. Eve, René's mother, did not like this favouritism at all.

To be bad blood to someone means that you have ill feelings toward someone.

Just like René is Al his favourite child, Al also has a child that he dislikes the most, namely Leon. Leon the oldest child and only boy had a very difficult childhood. Although Leon was a beautiful child, his father did not want to hear from him after he started talking. Leon stuttered a little. Leon was a disgrace, a son Al was ashamed of. Al never gave Leon any attention outside when Leon did something wrong. Then he would call Leon names or beat him. After Leon's 15th birthday, things went completely wrong. He had gone off the right track. He became an alcohol and drug addict. This was all caused by the fact that from a young age he was treated wrongly and didn't get any love.

Go bananas means to become irrational, angry or crazy.

Al was a cattle trader who was always on the road for his work. He was never at home. On the few days he was home, Eve always went crazy in front of him. Eve and Al were always fighting about their children. It was always the same. Eve could not stand the fact that René got all the attention and Leon none. The children often asked Eve why she didn't just leave Al, because they were always fighting. But Eve always replied that even though there were many tensions, she loved her husband.

The distance home is a disconsolate story about a family of five. Al, the father of the family, is a cattle trader. He comes across as a man with a hardness of stone. Eve, the mother of the family, wants that all her children are treated equally, unfortunately this is not the case. Al and Eve have three children: Leon, René and Jayne. The children grow up in an unhealthy household and move around frequently. This has major consequences for some of them later on.

Good job, Eline. It’s nice you did not pick the most obvious idioms. Even your pictures are well chosen and fully explained.
