The work by Shakespeare fits into the romantic tragedy genre. The rhythm is regular, the rhymes are common, often used in pairs. He seldom inserts a sonnet into the dialogue. There are many linguistic keys.
The aim of the author is to put on evidence the conflict inside human interests that could be based on economy-money political power and pride. In a modern key it could be, in Romeo and Juliet, that Shakespeare wants to address the theme of the relationship between parents and children and the lack of communication between two different generations.

The tragedy is set in Verona, around 1303, between the streets of the historic centre and some of the most characteristic places of Scaliger city, such as Juliet’s house and the nearby Romeo’s house; both not too far from the central Piazza Erbe. But the reference sources is a folkloristic story setting in Siena in Italy written down in the 15th century.

Content
An age-old revenge between two powerful families erupts into bloodshed. A group of masked Montagues risk further conflict by gatecrashing a Capulet party. A young lovesick Romeo Montague falls instantly in love with Juliet Capulet, who is due to marry her father’s choice, the County Paris. With the help of Juliet’s nurse, the women arrange for the couple to marry the next day, but Romeo’s attempt to halt a street fight leads to the death of Juliet’s own cousin, Tybalt, for which Romeo is banished. In a desperate attempt to be reunited with Romeo, Juliet follows the Friar’s plot and fakes her own death. The message fails to reach Romeo, and believing Juliet dead, he takes his life in her tomb. Juliet wakes to find Romeo’s corpse beside her and kills herself. The grieving family agree to end their feud.

Acting and characters:

The film is a modern transposition of William Shakespeare's famous tragedy set in the 90s in Verona Beach in a Los Angeles neighborhood, we believe that as far as the characters are concerned, not much has changed. It is interesting to note how the characters reveal their nature through their mask during the dance. Juliet, in the name of her purity, is an enchanting and candid angel and Romeo, with his armour, is a timeless knight; a character who totally embodies the spirit of the party is Mercutio, a nonconformist soul and a stranger by nature, he is the most representative figure of the general state of the story.

One of these is the location, as the film is set in Verona, also called Verona beach. The story opens with a news on a TV, which acts as narrator of the story, just as in Shakespeare's tragedy the scene continues with the clash between Montagues and Capulets, however a small difference can already be seen from the incipit: the initial quarrel she is incited by the Montagues, but in the original tragedy she is incited by the Capulets.

Another notable change involves the nature of the characters; they are very accurately represented in the film as the personality exactly mirrors the one he possesses in the original story. Also due to this time change, the rivalry between the two families is interpreted as hostility between very powerful families in the business field, while the Prince is none other than the chief of police.

Despite this, there are some scenes from the book that are omitted in the film, as it is inevitable to make it smoother. The point of maximum tension was much more evident in the film because the actors are present who make the story more realistic to our eyes.
