  • During the marriage a couple make promises to accept children lovingly from God and in order for a marriage to be valid both husband and wife have to be open to having children naturally. 

  • It is because of this the Catholic Church has always insisted marriage is a sacrament between a man and a woman. 

  • Two people of the same sex cannot meet the requirements for a marriage because they cannot promise to accept children lovingly from God.

  • Many people in British society believe homosexuals should be entitled to exactly the same rights as heterosexual. Unlike Catholics they do not see having children as an essential part of having a marriage.
