The fetuses are produced in test tubes and are watched closely by employees of the World State. "The operation undergone voluntarily for the good of society...continued with some account of the technique for preserving the excised ovary alive and actively developing..." (Huxley 5). The world state believes that they are creating the "perfect" life for both women and men. In the novel a woman named Linda is considered to be a "savage" because she gave birth to a child. ""Turned into a savage," She shouted. "Having young ones like an animal...if it hadn't been for you I might have gone to be an inspector, I might have gone away..." (Huxley 127). For Linda there was no choice whether or not to have her son, she had to give birth and is now view as an outcast. With bills and laws that are being created and passed in our society, women soon wont have the choice to either carry a child or not. Many bills have been passed on the topic of abortion and are being presented to the legislature but not every bill is what the people want. Some are not fully thought through or scientifically correct. A bill has recently been passed called the "Heartbeat" bill. It states that the use of any abortion method will not be allowed if a fetal heartbeat is detected. "There is no scientific basis for prohibiting a woman from obtaining an abortion whether there is or isn't a heartbeat present" (Schumaker, Erin. Of course the battle between Pro-Life and Pro-Choice advocates will continue  but maybe if we allow others to do what they feel is best for themselves the rate of maternal deaths will decrease, unsafe and illegal abortions will decrease, and the rate of drug use while pregnant will decrease. "A total of 21 million unsafe abortions were performed in 2008, accounting for 13 percent of maternal deaths worldwide...unsafe abortions can involve self-inflicted bodily trauma, ingesting chemicals or dangerous drugs, or relying on people without formal training to perform abortions..."
