This semester, we’re putting your legal argument and persuasion skills to the test with our Mini Moot Court Presentations. In your small groups, you’ll research, develop arguments, and present a mock oral argument based on a fictional case scenario. This exercise is designed to give you hands-on experience in legal reasoning, teamwork, and public speaking.

Purpose

• Critical Thinking: Apply legal principles and analysis to a complex, evolving scenario.

• Practical Skills: Learn to construct and present legal arguments both for and against a position.

• Collaboration: Build teamwork skills as you work together to plan, assign roles, and refine your arguments.

Assign Roles

• Lead Counsel(s): Present the main arguments. Counsel must prepare arguments for the Applicant and arguments for the Respondent.

• Legal Researchers: To provide support with research of relevant legislation, common law and case law. May be 2 group members, each to provide support to each side

• Presentations must be no more than 7 minutes (3 and a half minutes for each side).

• There will be an award for Best Mini Moot Team and Best Speaker
