Thank you for spending time with us this morning to help our young researchers! You may consider giving feedback to projects based on their presentation delivery and on the following points:

1. Mastery of subject knowledge

- Does the project demonstrate extensive knowledge of subject?

- Is there convincing evidence to support ideas and conclusions?

- Are all questions answered with clear elaboration?

2. Organisation of presentation

- Is the organisation of the argument clear and logical?

3.

A/Prof Ang: give definitions to each of the criteria in the lit review & discussion, especially drawing differences between the definition of terms. For example, autonomy by Floridi is defined as "acting independently without interferences", but when we discuss the autonomy in moral agency, it is common to talk about the freedom to give oneself duty and obligations (ends/goals).

A/Prof Ang: it is unclear how social evil is a category on its own according to the definition given. How different is it from moral evil? Where did this definition of social evil come from? It also seems odd to say that it is intended by the society.

Furthermore, it is strong to describe the examples given as "evil". For example, would we describe prejudice as evil?

A/Prof Ang: this point is unconvincing - "individual in the society is one with no choice, or right to choose, for what they want. As they have no free will in their decisions, rather the situation that decides for them, they have no free will in choosing to experience or commit evil." There is a need to explain the existence of evil or misfortune if there is no freewill.

A/Prof Ang: The thesis needs to be clear, but to get there, I think there are several conflicting issues that first need to be addressed. The different positions covered so far are interpreted I suspect incorrectly (there's no citation of the original so there is no way to verify) or explained in such a way to suit what you wish to support.
