Almost the whole book he wanted to get better at basketball. Both of his parents were divorced. He tried out for the basketball team but didn't make it. His dad made a team for him and was the coach. Later on in the book his dad got in a car accident and was in the hospital for a long time. No more could he coach his basketball team. Danny had to step up to become the coach and had to take over the team.
They made it to the finals and his dad had come to watch and they won. This showed me to try harder.
