Contour plowing follows the “natural shape” of the slope without changing the slope.

In terracing wide steps are cut around the slope, changing the shape of it.

They are different because terracing is used in steps on hills that is used for erosion so that it won't wash the crops away, contour plowing is also used for erosion but it is used in a flat surface so that the crops also won't be washed away.
