Once upon a time, deep in the heart of an ancient forest, there was a clever fox named Fenn. Fenn was known far and wide for his cunning tricks and swift, nimble feet that could outrun even the sharpest hunter. But his greatest weakness was his insatiable appetite. He was always hungry, always searching for his next meal.

One day, after days of unsuccessful hunting, Fenn’s stomach growled louder than a roaring bear. Desperate and weak, he stumbled upon a reflection in a crystal-clear pond. There, he saw his own paws—plump, strong, and strangely... appetizing. “Surely, I don’t need all four,” he muttered to himself, his hunger twisting his thoughts.

With a hasty decision, Fenn gnawed at his left paw, savoring the taste as he swallowed each bite. But as soon as he finished, he felt a sharp, searing pain. He tried to stand but stumbled, his balance gone. Panic surged through him as the hunger returned, fiercer than before. His eyes fell on his other paw. “Just one more... then I’ll be satisfied.”

One by one, Fenn devoured his own feet, each bite momentarily easing his hunger but leaving him weaker, more desperate. Until finally, he lay helpless, a once-proud fox who had tricked himself. As the sun dipped behind the trees, Fenn realized his cleverness had turned on him. He had outsmarted himself, chasing hunger until nothing remained.

The forest grew quiet, and the wind whispered through the leaves, carrying with it the cautionary tale of the fox who ate his own feet.
