1. Gwen wants to change her life: leave service and do what she really wants to do in her life. She save up some money and bought a typewriter. It was "kept private, not secret" in her room until Miss O'Brien happened to find and unveil it. She's also taken a postal course in shorthand (метод стенографии).
What is your opinion of trying to find you own way in life (in terms of profession) no matter what may happen to you now?

2. "Good riddance!.. We all carry scars inside or outside. You are no different to the rest of us", said Mrs. Hughes.
What was the point Mrs. Hughes was trying to make? Do you agree with Mrs. Hughes?

3. A bit personal, but anyway: "I am not a vain man, I do not consider myself a very interesting person. But I feel it's important that my future wife should think me so. A woman who finds me boring could never love me. And I believe, marriage should be based on love", this is what Mr. Napier said to Lady Grantham.
Don't you think he is hypocritical saying this, as he only cares about money Mary owns?

Mrs. Hughes was talking about not very pleasant life events and deeds which turned out not to be good for us or our friends. However, we shouldn't forget that things and try to keep both good and evil things in our memory.
Kostya, September 5

Kostya, September 5 3. In my opinion Mr. Napier told that heartily, without any mercenary motive. It gives him good credit, despite looking hopeless.

1."Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life." I agree with this quote, it’s important to love your job and work with passion. A lot of time is spent at work, so a job you love can make your every day a present. Everybody should develop his strengths, make his best that his dreams come true no matter what may happen to you now. These things make our life reacher and more interesting. .
2.In such way Mrs. Hughes wants to calm and cheer the valet up. Everybody carries unpleasant moments of his life inside, but we should leave these moments in the past and not pick at the wounds at the present. We should live here and now.
3.Well, wife is a husband’s neck. If she loves him he will do his best for her and make everything that her life would be wonderful. Living without any problems a wife will convert the husband's life the same. With the right woman every man can reach high attitude. I am sure that Mr. Napier was trying to say this.
